AI taught to diagnose coronavirus in 20 seconds

Chinese tech giant Alibaba has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system to diagnose the COVID-19 virus. The patient only needs to undergo a computed tomography of the chest, and a special algorithm will determine the presence of the virus in 20 seconds with an accuracy of 96%. The system was trained on tomography and data from 5,000 confirmed cases coronavirus and has already been tested in hospitals throughout China. Alibaba's AI is currently used by at least 100 healthcare facilities.

It is noteworthy that this is not the only solution for diagnosing the virus. Alibaba rival healthcare organization Ping An recently announced a very similar system, which is now being used by 1,500 healthcare providers. Its diagnostic algorithm can detect coronavirus in 15 seconds with an accuracy of over 90%.
