Russia wants to limit the sale of vapes and snus

Vapes, e-Sigs and all non-smoking products containing nicotine can be equated to regular cigarettes. Relevant changes in the law "On the protection of citizens' health from the effects of second hand tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco consumption" have already been submitted for consideration in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The amendments to the anti-tobacco law imply a complete ban on the sale of any smoking systems until the development of a new technical regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union. It can take up to two years to be approved.

As for non-smoking products containing nicotine, even after the development of a new regulation, they may be banned for sale in regular stores. The authors of the amendments believe that since they are advertised as a treatment for addiction, then they should be distributed as medical devices. In other words, only pharmacies will be able to sell them. This applies to nicotine lozenges, packs, snus and other similar products.
