All parts of Half-Life are temporarily free on Steam

In honor of the exit Half-Life: Alyx Valve made a gift to players: the original Half-Life, the second part and both additional episodes to it became free. You can play them until the release of the new part, which should happen in March.

Although the new game takes place before the events of Half-Life 2, Valve considersthat players will get the most out of Alyx by going through the old parts first. This will allow you to get acquainted with the characters and features of the setting before diving into virtual reality.

Important: At the end of the promotion, the games will be paid again, so think of this as a very long free weekend and not a full-fledged giveaway.

If you liked the first part, you can also go through the add-ons for free: Opposing Force and Blue shift. Remaster HL: Source on the engine from the second game is also available. All parts can be played on Windows, macOS and Linux, but the macOS version must be no higher than 10.14 Mojave, since Catalina “killed"Support for 32-bit applications.
