Maxim Sundalov
Founder and CEO of online schools EnglishDom English language. English language training has been since 2010. First worked as a teacher, then he became a partner school.
What do you do in your work?
I manage and grow with one of the largest in the CIS online English language schools EnglishDom. CEO on the current position do strategic planning and development of products, try to escape from the routine of all departments and focuses on the levers of business development.
The school includes more than 200 active teachers from around the world. Office team consists of 40 employees.
What is your occupation?
First graduated from College of automation and remote control on a specialty "Computer engineering". Then he studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Mining University in the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, and received a second degree in philology.
In parallel with studies at the university I began to work as my best student, went to college, and I just could not imagine that I could hold static five more years.
In teaching I happened to be: he was on the short leg with the computer, so you first launched your own information resources in English, then gradually came to teaching via Skype.
Very grateful to her sister Alexandra. At the start, she taught and directed me. With it, I went way into the teaching of school children to corporate English.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Always know what you are missing the other, and self-talk is difficult. I usually feel a proactive, systematic and fun.
Simultaneously to the pluses and minuses of his character attribute empathy. On the one hand, she had not once rescued, on the other - can overly focus on other people to the detriment of themselves. But it is the quality of aids in the management of the company: I'm more inspired and guided than pull and errands.
Yet to learn a little simplicity in communication, business and products. Kosmolotov in life already set up.
How does your workplace?
I have two jobs. Part of the work week sitting, and some - standing in the open space in other departments. I noticed that standing more productive, and healthy.
My gadgets:
- MacBook Air 13 ";
- iPhone 7 Plus;
- Apple Watch.
Many believe the clock useless, and I was pleasantly surprised. Conveniently set reminders voice, literally on the fly. It is not necessary each time to take the phone, always see who is calling and can quickly answer the call. And the app "Breath" is simply unique: you sit in a meeting and you receive a reminder - "pause and breathe." :)
Most often I use the following programs and services:
- Todoist - task manager. Previously used Wunderlist, but won thanks Todoist functionality.
- Clear - for a fleeting notes and more for bulk using Google Keep.
- Inbox - e-mail client from Google. Previously I used Thunderbird and did not dare to change the e-mail client. But Inbox has been very steep: eliminates spam, simple and very convenient.
- Trello and Jira - trackers tasks at work.
- "Yandex. Music". tried SoundCloud, Google Play Music, but nothing stuck, but "Yandex". The service is free, but I have so many tracks layknul that all forward when they introduce me to personal monetization. :)
- Pocket - saving articles from the Internet. It is very convenient, but sometimes, sending another article "for later", there is an association with the "basket". So before you send in Pocket important articles, fix them in the browser tab and browse.
All of these applications combines simplicity and nice design.
I agree that the future of push-notifications, but I still struggle with them. I do not like when my productivity affects the sudden message, so all notification minimized.
How do you organize your time?
Always I work on short-term plans. Of course, there is the company's strategy and personalized Resolution list 2017. To plan using «Google Spreadsheets." Tried service Airtable, but have not found a use for it.
I work with a lot of information flow, as parallel to supervise up to seven departments. During the day, difficult to switch between tasks. Therefore, the days of the week I divided by department. For example, Monday - the grocery department, Tuesday - recruitment and so on. I can be distracted by critical questions to other departments, but it happens very rarely.
Actively preaching work in a state of flux. I try to work as 60-90 minutes, then take a break. It is difficult to enter in a state of flux (distracting thoughts, small chores), but if it is possible, productivity soars to the heavens.
Perhaps the people who practice meditation, it is easier to enter into a state of flux, but it is still difficult for me. I willed for 5-10 minutes is focused on the task, after the switch completely ignore external factors. Sometimes it helps to turn the background music in the genre Deep House.
What's your daily routine?
I'm an early bird, wake up around five in the morning. In rare rainy days I can hug the pillow and sleep longer than usual. my productivity Success depends on healthy sleep - at least 6-7 hours.
After waking hour spend reading, enjoying the morning silence. The next part of the morning to play sports: tennis, charging or jogging with a dog. Sport helps to wake up, get the right mood for the day.
In the evening, always a lot of plans, I want to catch a lot, but still perform all household rituals, remains, only for sleeping.
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
As a rule, I listen to music, which charges.
In the morning, on a fresh mind, open new business and listen to podcasts, audio recordings of conferences or interviews with interesting people.
What's your hobby?
My hobbies are playing tennis. I engage in this sport to maintain themselves in shape. Lifting weights in the gym turned out to be ineffective for me - work more muscles of the tongue. :)
Tennis appeared to me a lever for personal growth. In tennis, the concentration is important, the ease, the fire in the heart, the struggle. All this is in harmony and self-control. In general, the set of skills needed for work and in their personal lives.

Life hacking English language
- Identify your motivation. If you learn English for show, most likely you will get tired of it very quickly. Put a clear goal: to pass the IELTS exam, communicate freely with native speakers to use English in his new position, reading books and watching films before their official translation.
- Make English a hobby. Personalize your learning to your interests: watch the profiles of interesting people in the social networks in English, watching movies, even with subtitles, read the news and literary adaptation. Let the English will go down in your life as a second mother tongue.
- Search for active teachers. The teacher should be moderately demanding and positive, inspire and energize. If you wait for the next lesson would, then, all right.
- Engage regularly. For effective learning is better to do 2-3 times a week for an hour, once a week for 2-3 hours. Sustainable storing occurs after 5-7 repetitions. So tune in - English requires time and effort. You will need to work very hard, but the result is worth it.
- Communicate with the first lessons. Even if you speak correctly, or it will be hard to formulate the language constructs. It's like learning a child walking - you can not stop. And then, most likely, you will never know about the language barrier.

What is your life motto?
Come to mind immediately are three quotes. first:
Each goes his own way. But all roads still going nowhere. So, the whole point of the road itself, how to go about it... If you go with pleasure, then it is your road.
Carlos Castaneda
The second about a different perception of the situation from the book "The great by choice": "On the way to the South Pole Scott in bad weather sit in the tent and complained about the circumstances. In early December, he wrote in his journal that they were stopped by a blizzard, "I think no one could pop out in this weather." But when Amundsen was in a similar or even worse conditions, he wrote in his journal: "Bad day - a snowstorm, glacial deposits, frostbite, but we continued for another 23 kilometers closer to the goal. " Scott has fallen the 6 days of the hurricane, and these days it remained in place. Amundsen also got 15 such days, and in 8 of them, he went on his way. "
The third rule about nine seconds, "The difference between a good leader and a bad time, which is the leader removes the fact that pity on himself, cried, pohandrit. If life has thrown you a knockout, remember that you have nine seconds to get up, catch my breath, to draw conclusions and move on. "
These quotes together is my credo.
