Thanks to the project, who created this man, to learn foreign languages was fun and interesting. LinguaLeo - one of the brightest and most successful startups in recent years. And today, founder and head of the service Aynur Abdulnasyrov tell us how it is arranged workspace.
What do you do in your work?
I am the founder and head of the project LinguaLeo.com - Web Service to learn and practice English.
My tasks include the development of the company's development strategy, communication with investors, monitoring of the process of creating new products, planning finance, staff recruitment, public speaking and communication with journalists, access to new markets, meeting with partners and communication with each participant team.
My working day looks like this:
10-15 task scheduler (simple txt-document);
30-50 new incoming mails and about 100 in the work;
1-3 meetings with partners / journalists /... and about 4-8 meetings with colleagues;
5-10 calls.
How does your workplace?
company is headquartered in Technopark "Strogino". We took 4 rooms: a team developing a web version, the team of mobile application development, promotion team and a team of Product Owner-s (PO), which are responsible for the development of products and their quality. I sit in the same room with the PO.
We are quite mobile, so we can surprise the whole team to leave for a long trip. For example, in late August returned from Montenegro. And rented a villa for 2 months working on localization service in Portuguese, mobile applications and improved web version of the product.
The project itself was born on the island of Koh Chang in Thailand, close to the jungle, where we lived for six months before the release of the beta version of the service.
My workplace - a Macbook Air and 2 phones (iPhone 4S and Nokia e52). Two - in case one runs out. Calls for increased use of a traditional telephone, iPhone - for e-mail and surfing the Internet. 2 times to buy the iPad, but both times gave someone. It did not stick. :)
What hardware are using?
Before macbook air I had a few sony vaio different generations. I switched to a MacBook, because it loads fast, lightweight, and easy long runs.
The only thing, sometimes you have to work with excel, word and ppt, for them using Parallels Desctop, which is set on his typewriter.
As for the phone, then, as already mentioned, I have two of them: Nokia E52 and iPhone 4s.
What software use?
Google - e-mail service on lingualeo.com domain. Mail check in the morning, at midday and in the evening. Letters, the answer to which requires time, after reading the post in unread to return to them again. 50% correspondence in Russian, 50% in English.
Google Docs - text, spreadsheets, presentations - everything is created on this platform. The biggest plus the ability to collaborate on documents. We have within the company pending send "offline"-documents.
TXT - use the scheduler - records and appointments and business. Edit as new tasks and reviewing at the beginning of the working day.
Here is an example of one day (plus I mark completed tasks).
Dropbox - all files (including txt-file with the objectives) are stored in the cloud so that you can open from any computer. The companies also use Dropbox and Yandex. Drive for shared access to files and folders.
Parallels Desktop for Mac - set to have access directly to the two systems - MAC OS and Windows.
Pocket - to save everything you need to read, when there will be a free moment. I use as a web-based version and a mobile application.
Skype - used for correspondence, conference calls and for calls abroad. If not at the meeting, it is always "on the network." The company has several working chats: LinguaLeo - general chat, where they discuss work issues, LeoFlame - a place for offtopic and trolling. Each team has also a chat for efficient communication.
Facebook - answer questions, and occasionally manifest activity. Questions are asked mainly for work - offer cooperation, are invited to the event, and so forth. There are also account VKontakte, but I there is a rare visitor. account to twitter I created recently.
LinguaLeo Browser - helps when reading materials in English on the Web or in PDF format. Despite the fact that I have fluent English, unfamiliar words from time to time occur.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Yes, but only for signing paper agreements and sometimes for thinking "with pen and paper in hand," no more.
Is there a dream configuration?
That we were on the one hand, as it were in Thailand (where my 5 plus), and on the other - in Moscow (there are 5 plus), and the third in the United States (there are 5 plus). But teleportation is not yet invented!
I would also like that we as a team could occasionally exchange thoughts directly, that synchronization occurs faster. :) But it's also still science fiction, so we just talk a lot!
