How people perceive beauty

How can a person for himself determines whether what he sees in front of a beautiful or not? Designer Richard Seymour in his speech at the TEDSalon talks about his studies of human sensitivity to beauty and reveals the amazing power of beautiful things.
Canons of beauty in different cultures and at different times, always different. What is now considered to be beautiful, just 10 years ago could absolutely not perceived by society. What it is considered ugly in the modern metropolis in the United States or Europe, in some African tribe is flawed. Moreover, each person has their own sense of beauty that can dramatically differ from the opinions of others, even if it is very close person. However, there are things that everybody likes. Their beauty is not seen on the education level and the rules that we have inherited from their ancestors, or dictated by modern society. It's just nice to everyone and everything. It is felt at some other, common to all the people level.
And there are some designers who are able to capture these trends and bring them to life, even though it is a simple lighting system of the car.
