A few days ago Apple presented a gift to its many users around the world, making available iTunes Store in Russia, Turkey, India, South Africa and 52 other countries. Accordingly, the ecosystem of virtual entertainment has undergone significant changes. In this light, interesting to evaluate the situation and to see the ratio of market share owned by such competitors like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
The first diagram shows the percentage of the world's population access to music services. It is obvious that there is an advantage from Apple users, and it is not surprising if we consider that recently the store iTunes Music is available in 56 additional countries. Number of countries in which makovody iGadzhetov and owners can use the iTunes Music, increased from 62 to 118. The percentage ratio of the number of active users iTunes music service more than a set of users of Google, Microsoft and Amazon.
However, we can not fail to mention the successes XBox Music. Service earned in less than two months ago. It is represented in 22 countries around the world, and among its members - a total of 16% of the population. Nevertheless, it has already surpassed Google and Amazon have similar products.
If we talk about another component of the iTunes - video store, it is now available in Russia, Turkey, Indonesia and India, and in total - in 66 countries. (Microsoft A similar service operates in 22 countries.)
The following chart shows the total value for users worldwide access to various services of the aforementioned service providers. Described herein and music, and video, and television products as well as e-books and the actual application.
Among other observations on the work of competing providers in the field of entertainment content we can identify a number of trends. So, recently Apple makes big bets on all Chinese consumers of their products. Here a significant role is played by the huge population of China, the growth of the quantitative component of the middle class and other factors. The company even has integrated Chinese social networking in the last version of iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion. Unlike China India paid a lot more attention, but access to the iTunes its residents received before the users of Apple products in China. Of course, the fact that living in India 17% of the world population, the opening of access to the iTunes Indians has contributed to changes in the global consumption of entertainment content statistics.
Separately, it is worth noting the low percentage of users access to television services. Regarding iTunes TV Store, it only works in six countries and therefore is available only 8.3% of the world population.
In general, when it comes to distributing entertainment services in new regions, we should not blame their suppliers, in particular, on the Apple. Such a slow pace does not mean that the company is not in a hurry or are not interested in the needs of users, for example, in Eastern Europe or Asia. Not at all, the whole point here in the legal side of the issue, because still need to obtain a license to run a particular type of services in the selected state.
