Do not correct errors of subordinates, even if you really want. In the long term it will bring us only good.
In 1992, Steve Jobs was invited to deliver a lecture at the School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his speech, he shared an experience that has acquired while working at Apple and NeXT. Toward the end of the lecture he was asked what is the most important lesson he has personally received at Apple and now applies to NeXT.
Thinking, Jobs replied: "Now I look at the employees in terms of long-term perspective. When I see that something is wrong, I am not in a hurry to fix it. We're building a team. And going to do for the next ten years, great job, not just one year. So I have to think not how to fix the error, and how to help this person to learn. "
The main advice for any leader: teach your employees rather than fix their mistakes.
When someone on your team can not handle the problem or makes a mistake, it is difficult not to intervene. But it does not help the man, and the whole company in the long term. Use error employee as an opportunity to teach him.
For example, to share experiences, when you yourself made similar gaffes. Tell us, what are the lessons learned from them. Let your experience inspired him to look at things in a new way. But admit that this man can approach the problem in their own way. Then the staff will see to your teacher and mentor, not just the boss.
In addition, employees can use for errors confidence-. Your team needs to know that you will always support them. If you inspire employees and not humiliate them after mistakes, they will increase motivation.
Remember, mistakes are inevitable. When something happens, look at the situation from the point of view of long-term perspective. Share your experience and help the employee learn. The whole team will be grateful to you for it.
