Strikethru - time management system at the junction of GTD and log purposes
Productivity / / December 23, 2019
Strikethru system ( "expunged") combines GTD methodology and objectives of the magazine. It is suitable for those who prefer pen and notebook electronic to-do-lists.
To use Strikethru techniques divide the notebook into four parts:
- "Make today": active lists for the day, which are prepared the previous evening. execution priority for specified tasks list.
- "Dump": the place in a notebook where you write down all the tasks and ideas.
- "Storage": here are the lists are divided into groups. Each of these two letters mark in the corner of the sheet. For example: "OL" - a project, "EH" - weekly.
- "Calendar": the first pages of the notebook, place the calendars for each month or for one month, if it is on so much time missing notebook. Pushes back the deferred tasks.
You can use the light version Strikethru: only two sections - "dump" and "do today." The standard version of the method involves the presence of a "pool." And in the pro-version is added to the section "Calendar". The procedure can be combined with other productivity systems such as Kanban and Pomodoro.
Author Chris said system on Reddit, how the idea came to him Strikethru techniques and shared its basic principles. Next, we present his story.

This system - a cross between lists and journal purposes, and it has helped me to take control of life. I called her Strikethru. I really like it made things expunged. Enjoy, when I take a marker and confident line expunged problem, not just delete it, as it happens in the electronic lists.
How I came to your system
I had a project on Kickstarter, and in May I had to pack and ship products to customers. At the same time there have been changes at work, and I'm getting used to the new role, and the more we were in the midst of moving, and our eight-month child I began to crawl. I felt that all out of my control.
It was necessary to somehow organize life. I tried the GTD, but did not see the results of addicted magazine goals, but it does not suit me. And I began to experiment.
I started to make one long to-do list, but it was not very applicable to one day. So I broke it on lists of "do today" and "Dump", where I poured all of my brainstorming: ideas matter.
Bit popolzovavshis this system, I realized that I need to expand it somewhat. I needed the lists of projects, so there was a "pool." In the list of tasks for a specific project contains all the things that you need to perform on it. "Make today" - the basis of my day. In the evening I spend a few minutes to make this list the next day. In him I collect tasks from the "Storage" and "Waste disposal".
As in the GTD system, I use retrospective. Most spend time in a month: view and edit all lists in the "Storage" and "Garbage", update the section "Calendar". Nightly retrospective takes five minutes, I spend it when I make to-do list for the next day. I do not make a distinction between tasks, events and meetings. All I have to do, I write in a notebook.
In "Calendar" I can be a long-term plan. I do not want to start a separate list of dates when you need to perform the task, but also to "do today" can not fit them, because it would break the concept of the daily list. Thanks to the "Calendar" I can distribute the tasks, events and meetings for the month ahead and do not forget about them.
And finally, I do not rewrite completely the problem of the "Storage" and "Waste disposal" to "do today" or "Calendar." Each task has an identifier - letter code of the page or number plus the job number on the list. His I move between lists.
