That is the conclusion drawn by researchers from the University of Michigan after the 2 studies.
At first they tried to find out whether there is a relationship between the operation of human memory, and social interaction. To this end, 3610 people were selected between the ages of 24 to 96 years. After checking a variety of demographic indicators, among them the age, education, ethnicity, gender, marital status, level of income, as well as physical health, researchers examined the relationship between frequency of social contact and level of mental function memory. As a result, they have found this relationship in all age groups. The more a social activity in humans, the greater its ability to learn.
In the second experiment, the researchers defined as the impact on memory performance social interactions and intellectual exercises. In this they were helped by 76 college students between the ages of 18 and 21 years, who were divided into 3 groups. The participants of the first group of "social interaction" prior to testing took part in the discussion of social issues. Students of the second group of "intellectual activity" as before the tests performed 3 tasks. Caught in the "control group", just watched 10 minutes of video. The results showed that short-term social interaction during the entire 10 minutes improves memory performance as well as intellectual exercise and during the same time.
Thus, social isolation can lead to negative consequences for the intellectual capacities of man. So do not neglect communion and improve memory!
