Learn how to take your money: a selection of courses on personal finance

At a time when the financial situation is unstable, the ability to spend their money properly is almost as important as the ability to earn them. We have made a selection of five courses on personal finance. They disclosed the basics of how to read the family budget, what tools to use and how to analyze their costs.
Preparing a compilation, we sincerely tried to include her in the courses, not only in English. The problem was that we were able to find only one course in personal finance to Russian. The creators of the other or require money, not allowing to check the relevance of the course, or served frankly outdated information like new.
Therefore, four out of five courses, which we describe below, in English. All of them give up to date information on planning, accounting and analysis of how you spend your money.
"Personal and family financial planning" on Coursera
Detailed course, which is divided into eight weeks. Each week is reserved for a separate module. The first module - general information about personal finance, the second - the tools for accounting and so on. One module explains how to manage tax liabilities. Tax module is designed for residents of the United States, so it can be skipped.

Money Essentials from CNN
Unlike the previous year, Money Essentials - a text-based course is designed for students with a good knowledge of the language. Education is divided into 23 lessons, each of which is responsible for a separate category of personal finance: the creation of the budget, the basics of investment and deposits, the purchase of expensive items and the accumulation of money.

"Introduction to Finance" on Coursera
Course of the University of Michigan, from which you will learn how to reduce financial risks and how the value of money over time. Professor Cole, a lecturer of the course "Introduction to Finance", mentions that in order to master the material, it is desirable at least a basic knowledge of finance and economics fundamentals.

The Seven Baby Steps
The course is the author of several best-selling books by Dave Ramsey. The program is divided into seven "baby steps", each of which is closer to the final goal - the financial viability and wealth. The site Ramsey You can also find lots of other useful materials on personal finance.

"Economics for non-economists" on Coursera
Lecturer - Igor Kim, professor of the Higher School of Economics. This is the only course in our selection in Russian. The course aims - to explain the basics of economic literacy to those who do not have specialized knowledge. Designed for 10 weeks of study 4-6 hours per week.
