Be persistent and disciplined in life is to be a strong and original in your work. Gustave Flaubert
Friedrich Nietzsche died at the age of 55 years and left more than 20 scientific papers philosophical. Karl Marx died when he was 64, his legacy - about 7 monumental works. Immanuel Kant lived for 79 years, but its basic philosophical ideas are 8 volumes.
And now the question: what do you think of daily routines adhere to these thinkers? What helped them to work every day? And how could leave such an impressive spiritual heritage?
Answers to these and other questions can be found in this article.
Friedrich Nietzsche
Nietzsche formation was linguist - Bonn studied first, and then the Leipzig University of Basel. However, philologist Nietzsche few people know, but the whole world is familiar with Nietzsche, the philosopher. It was he who developed the idea of "Superman." Superman - a new round of evolution. He must so transcend the ordinary man as the latter surpassed the monkey. He - egocentric, in love with life. He - the creator, whose fate depends only on his will.
Whether Nietzsche was such a "superman"? Far from it. He was in very poor health. He lived in the Swiss Alps and led a fairly simple, if not ascetic life.
Like many successful people, Nietzsche is very kind to the morning. Here he writes about it his biographer Curtis Cate (Curtis Cate):
With Spartan austerity, which has not ceased to amaze his homeowner grocer, Nietzsche would get up every morning at dawn, when the sky was just beginning to twitch gray. Washed with cold water, drinking warm milk, and if you do not feel headache or nausea, he worked without stopping, until 11 o'clock in the morning.
Today, such a concentration of work we would call a state of flux. After that, Nietzsche went on a two-hour walk in the woods or to the nearby lake. His constant "companion" in this case was a notebook - outdoors often come to mind a wise idea.
Nietzsche then returned, dined alone (as a rule, it was steak and vegetables) and went for a walk again. And again with him - a notebook and pencil. Returning home at about 5:00 pm, the philosopher had dinner (biscuits and tea) and sat down again to work. Nietzsche once again plunged into a state of flux, until finally he went to bed at 23 o'clock.
Karl Marx
Karl Marx - economist, philosopher and writer, created the theory of "surplus value" and "class struggle." From 1849 he lived in London and stuck, like Nietzsche, quite power, albeit a little more free, a way of life.
Historian and philosopher Isaiah Berlin (Isaiah Berlin) wrote about the daily Marx:
Marx mode includes daily visits to the reading room of the British Museum, where he went at 9 am and where he remained until closing time (7 pm). This was followed by the long hours of night work which are accompanied by a continuous smoking. Addiction severely affected his health, illness prevented him from working, draining and irritated him.
Immanuel Kant
Kant - an outstanding German philosopher of the XVIII century. His "Critique of Pure Reason" is considered to be a fundamental philosophical works and major works of the thinker. To keep your mind in clarity, Kant adheres to a strict daily routine.
As you know, Kant loved to sleepBut he did not allow himself to retreat from the accepted schedule. He woke up at 4:45 and was proud that he never even got up half an hour late, despite the fact that to get up early in the morning it was very difficult for him.
After lifting Kant drank one to two cups of weak tea and smoked a pipe. For him smoking was akin to meditation. At the same time a philosopher strictly defined - in only one day "meditation." However, contemporaries recalled that over the years the size of his pipe became larger.
After a morning of "relaxation", Kant wrote before 7am lectures and worked on his books. From 7 to 11 it is taught. Then I had dinner and went for a walk. But unlike Nietzsche, I preferred not to walk alone, but with a friend. Upon returning home, Kant again set to work and read a lot.
As you can see, everyday life of the great philosophers is not marked by diversity. But each of them has developed an optimal daily routine and strictly follow it. It allows them to work productively.
And what mode you practice?
