If you just can not find the time to meditate, meditation, or simply does not suit you, try to develop awareness differently. This can be done at any time of the day, on the way to work or even in the bathroom.
How often do we promise ourselves to live consciously, but get distracted and forget about it for a day. Therefore it is useful to have some signals, that will remind you that it is time to add to their actions a little bit of awareness and draw attention to what is happening at the moment, and not to focus on their thoughts. Such a signal could be any action or event. Here are five simple ways to develop awareness for the day.
1. While walking
If you do not like meditate sitting, try to do it while walking.
When you get up on work from the table to get to the toilet, have a coffee or something to discuss with your colleagues, try not to drive recklessly, lost in thought. It is better to focus your attention on the physical sensations of walking.
Notice how your feet touch the floor, both with one foot to the other carries weight. Feel the hands move. Pay attention to the temperature in the room. Listen to your senses.
2. While eating
We almost always distracted by something at meal time. Check e-mail and social networks, or simply think about something.
- Try to just eat. Put all electronic devices, books and newspapers.
- Try to eat alone.
- Pay attention to what you eat, feel the taste, smell, texture of food. Notice what color it is. You can even spend a moment to feel gratitude.
3. In the talk time
Do not think that you have to answer, just listen carefully and note what thoughts you are having. So it will be easier to understand their point of view and give more thought-out response.
Listening - perhaps the most valuable thing we can give to others. This is especially important during the debate and tough negotiations. If you listen carefully, the interlocutors remains the feeling that they are understood, listened to their opinion, and it usually helps to defuse the situation.
4. In the bathroom
Pleasant moments often pass unnoticed, because we are at this time about something thought and did not pay attention to the physical sensations. So the next time you take a shower, do not scroll through the list in my head, do not worry about the work and do not reproach myself for a fight that took place ten years ago.
Stop and feel the drops of water on the skin. Pay attention to the temperature of the water, the smells of soap or shampoo and just feel gratitude for what is available to you the luxury of clean water.
5. During Yoga
many see yoga only as a complex exercise for the body. But yoga classes - the perfect time to develop mindfulness. Try to fully concentrate on what is happening on the sensations of your body. Before class feel how your feet are on the mat. Practice mindfulness, even when do not in the room, but at home or while traveling.
