Design

Teardrop-shaped cutout in the center - the optimum solution for the placement of the front camera. But frameless smartphone is not there: there is a significant "bumper" and doubly conspicuous thickened lower brow. Nothing wrong.

Redmi Note 7 does not seem reliable - it is not too heavy, and its rear panel suspiciously dull responds to tapping. how show tests, these feelings do not cheat: we PHABLET have vulnerabilities, but any serious drop may be the last. Furthermore, the sidewall made of plastic scratches and easily collected.

Included is a black silicone case. Solution angry, but Redmi Note 7, it's great - wear your smartphone in a cover both useful and desirable.

Like any PHABLET, Redmi Note 7 are not super comfortable lies in one of the average hand. With the absence of the lower shutter when typing its dimensions - quite a problem. Even on the photo you can see how hard to press the space bar or the keyboard to change the language.

The fact that this is not the flagship model, as a compromise, it is clear at first sight and touch. For example, PHABLET has the same display resolution as the more expensive model Xiaomi Mi 9, but greatly exceeds it in size and thickness of the frames. There is nothing wrong with that, given that the prices of Redmi Note 7 start at 14 thousand rubles.

Screen

Here set IPS-screen, which is noticeably inferior OLED-display older models. He is good: fairly detailed, bright and with a bunch of settings.

One of the interesting features include the availability mode for reading with warm colors display. More here have nothing to say - this is a tolerable screen that will appeal to anyone who does not use the flagship. And it does not cause complaints considering devaysa prices.

Sound

At this point, the smartphone fully met expectations. If Xiaomi equips its flagship mediocre audio, I advance no matter what no hope in the case of a compromise PHABLET.

Audio is played only in mono, the sound is loud, but verhasty. At this smartphone will not want to listen to music, and with it will not turn out to enjoy a movie or TV series. But there is support for Bluetooth with aptX and input for wired headphones.

Camera

48-megapixel camera works on the same principle as that of the Mi 9: highest resolution fully included in a special mode and in normal conditions, the camera takes pictures at 12 megapixels.

The camera Redmi Note 7 still can make nice pictures, especially in good light. We just urge you not to be greedy for the specification, beating obscure records, because the 48-megapixel camera budget Xiaomi still takes much worse 12-megapixel lens iPhone XS or Samsung Galaxy S10 +.

Staffing camera app includes a bunch of modes and settings in which we must deal. There is a Pro mode - there you can enable 48-megapixel mode, adjust the white balance, focus, exposure and sensitivity. There is an option HDR algorithms and power button, recognizing shooting scenes.

There is a mode "Night", which should be a little better off getting photos taken in low light. Sometimes the difference is not visible, often the pictures are really high quality (for example, lights in the photo give less glare), but there is an important drawback - the smartphone asks for some insane at the time of such processing frame. After taking the unit for some time hard "thinks", and then the photo is not even always maintained. One time I just close the camera application. Obviously, this is a bug that Xiaomi will try to close the soft-updates, but now I have a night mode to use did not work.

With portraits of all unstable: sometimes incorrectly grabbing contours, almost always right is to focus, but several times the background and people in the frame at all changed places. A good picture can be, but even with adequate street lighting it took me a few tries.

The front camera takes good pictures in good light and pretty soap in low.

Performance

We were hit with a modification of the 4 GB of RAM and 64GB ROM - a maximum configuration of this model. It works on the basis of Snapdragon processor 660 with a frequency up to 2.2 GHz, for the graphics chip Adreno 512 responds. This is not the worst option, but again a compromise.

From time to time lag system itself, serious toy run at medium graphics settings, heavy applications can take off and shooting complex scenarios require a lot of processing time. Maybe it's optimization, and software updates after something better.

Software

Redmi Note 7 runs under Android 9.0 controlled with MIUI 10 shell. I wrote about this system in more detail in the review Xiaomi Mi 9. Here, the same desktop with all applications, not hidden in a separate folder.

On the one hand, smartphones with OLED-displays, it is designed to conserve battery life, and then it sort of is not necessary. On the other, a dark theme looks nice, someone probably would want to use it.

In this model, Xiaomi does not become embedded fingerprint sensor at the screen - it is located on the rear panel of the center. As a user I do not see anything wrong: fingerprinting is excellent and works fast, it's easy to find and they are comfortable to use.

Present identification in the face. Expectedly unsafe - the system warns that anyone can unlock your phone for photos. But it works great: fast, from almost any angle and distance.

autonomy

There is installed a serious battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh. charge rate increases due to the IPS-screen, but in terms of autonomy Redmi Note 7 is still good. I could not as it should borrow it in normal mode, but the impression that half of the day it will work without a power outlet. The charge is consumed slowly and evenly.

Wireless charging, but there are fast - for standard Quick Charge 4.0. The corresponding block is not supplied.

results

Redmi Note 7 and looks like a middling, and works the same way. He is not protected from the water, he does not have the NFC, it does not pull heavy games at maximum graphics settings and even the stable operation of the system in its complex scenarios.

All this beating good camera, excellent autonomy, topical in 2019 and, possibly, the best one cutout front camera. And, most importantly, the price. This can give a sloppy PHABLET child, give to unpretentious gadgets parent or buy, if you have the same barrier that does not allow to buy expensive smart phones.
