This time, after the public release OS X YosemiteI decided it was time to complete mock system and install all "clean". The reasons for this were twofold: First, my OS each time updated on the various beta, starting with Mountain Lion; secondly, it was interesting, the difference between the performance of the upgrade through the Mac App Store from a typical installation on a blank disc. All we need - is the size of the flash drive 8 GB and download the system image.
First we need to create a bootable USB flash drive.
Now we follow a few simple steps:
- Go to the Mac App Store and download available to you for free OS X Yosemite (loaded distribution will be in the Applications folder).
- Launch the Disk Utility application from the Programs folder - Utilities.
- Insert your USB-drive and select it in the left side of the Disk Utility.
- In the drop-down menu on the right to select the partitioning scheme - Section 1.
- Hardly the right to ask:
Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Name: Yosemite
- Select the schema partition your flash drive and just below click on the "Settings" button. In the window that appears, choose "GUID Partition Scheme" and click OK.
- Now in the lower right corner of the Disk Utility window, click Apply to format your USB-stick. Please note that the formatting process deletes all data from the drive!
- When formatting is complete, run the Terminal application (Programs - Utilities).
- In the Terminal window, type the following:
sudo '/ Applications / Install OS X Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia' -volume '/ Volumes / Yosemite -applicationpath' / Applications / Install OS X Yosemite.app '-nointeraction.
If necessary, enter the administrator password.
- After some time, the utility has finished creating the bootable USB-drive. The rate of creation depends on your drive in your computer, and from most of the stick. Upon completion restart your Mac and hold down the Alt key when turning on the computer until the sound setting menu.
- In the Installer menu you created USB-drive, and from the Utilities menu, launch Disk Utility. With it, select your system partition and format it for a clean installation, as it was done a little higher on your USB-stick.
- After the operation, close the Disk Utility and start the installation of OS X.
- At the end of the installation process, you can use the backup copy of the Time Machine, or set up the system "from scratch".
How do you prefer to update the system? Do you lack the usual updates from the Mac App Store or on each bet again? Tell us about it in the comments!
