Google Play Books lets you download your books in EPUB and PDF format and synchronize your library and reading progress among all Android-devices - smartphones and tablets into one Google Account.

I love the service Bookmate just one thing - it allows you to upload your books (downloaded or purchased on litres) in the "cloud", and then read on a phone or tablet to sync progress (Bookmate review on Layfhakere). Now Google Play Books does the same thing with your books that you have purchased or downloaded somewhere in EPUB or PDF format. Perhaps now I Bookmate not useful.

To book came into your Google cloud, you need to send itself by email and open the book from your smartphone or tablet on Andriod in the Google Play Books program. You can add and downloaded a book on a mobile device. So far no way to load the book on your PC is not provided.Posted: download books from a PC can be done at play.google.com/books/uploads.

This feature is available only on the latest version of Google Play Books, which you can pick up in Google Play. So was one reason for less use of third-party Bookmate.
