This office suite has been actively developing. Not had time to establish version 2.4, and developers have already announced the release of the third version in September. What is so radically new will it? A lot is expected.
When OpenOffice.org 3 is opened, the user is offered a new menu of boot options for the office suite of components and the possibility of opening of the finished document. In text documents offered viewing of multiple documents simultaneously. The new OpenOffice is built-in support for new formats, including DOCX, PPTX and XLSX, and also import PDF. About PDF: Added support for importing PDF to Draw, support hybrid PDF (document in this format can be viewed as a PDF and edited like OpenDocument). Of the innovations that are, I think, completely change their attitude to this office suite, PIM and will expand. PIM includes email, calendar with support for online-publications, task management, support CalDAV servers, Google Calendar and the Sun Calendar Server. OpenOffice 3 will support simple extensions in Firefox style. Already, the following extensions are available: voice annotations for presentation, remote control of presentations via bluetooth devices, version control via Subversion, faxing (send and receive), integration with Google Docs. OpenOffice 3 will officially support Mac. Of course, there NeoOffice, but OpenOffice for Mac will be updated simultaneously with the Linux and Windows versions. Also expected next - support direct editing of wiki, WordPress will support formats and Movabletype blogs.
