hard disk partition editing a delicate matter and requires special software. Most programs for this - the commercial version, requiring certain financial expenses. It makes no sense to buy a software product that you use only a few times, if there is a free alternative - Parted Magic.
Parted Magic is a Linux LiveCD, Which includes tools for working with hard drive. It consists of a set of programs:
- GParted partition editor;
- Partition Image tool to work with disk images
- TestDisk to restore boot records tool
- Fdisk, Sfdisk partition table editor
- Other utilities, the full list can be viewed here.
Very pleased and a list of supported file systems: ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs +, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, xfs, reiserfs, reiser4.
Parted Magic image size is about 36Mbayt. Booting from a CD or USB drive, you get a complete set of tools for editing the hard disk.
The only thing missing Parted Magic - a feature of combining sections with information, but without it is possible to do.
