Major publishers have long been engaged in the adaptation of old hits for iOS-platform capabilities. we can thanks to their efforts, for example, play max Payne on the iPad or put together in a gang GTA 3 on the iPhone. But truly vintage games go on iOS is much rarer. If the mountain will not come to Mohammed, then Mohammed goes to the mountain: indie developers sometimes create a truly successful remakes of retro games.
One recent example, Wings of Valor, is a remake of the game Wings of Fury, first published in the 80 th to the Apple II (and later ported to the Commodore 64, Amiga and PC-DOS). The plot takes us into the Second World War. The action takes place in the Pacific Fleet. Try to be a pilot of the Air Force (side of the conflict - the US or Japan - you choose yourself). The challenge boils down to take off from an aircraft carrier, destroy the target and back to the ship. Management - is extremely simple: the left joystick similarity, right buttons for dropping bombs, opening machine-gun fire, etc.
The game itself is not too complicated. To learn how to take off from the deck of the ship, then destroy enemy buildings on the islands and the planes in the sky, much time would be required. What is really difficult - to come back and sit on your carrier (I have a big problem with that!). Successfully completing missions, you earn points that can then be spent on improving aircraft weapons. Deposit funds, exchanging real money for virtual cash, you can not. It's unsportsmanlike.
Wings of Valor - a real "fan-made" project. The game was created with just one developer, who wrote a physics engine, and produced all the graphics (more than 2000 illustrations!). This is a very neat, with a soul made remake. Adorable and gameplay, and sound, and some game moments (like, for example, that the airplane engine does not start at the first attempt). Wings of Valor has an interesting feature: the assurances of the author of the game generates levels in random order. This means that the probability that WoV quickly bored small.
