Sooner or later, everyone is faced with the need to have a place on the Internet where one could upload / download something without the hassle volumetric (from 1GB or more), while restrictions 50MB - 2 GB free on most of FTP-servers clearly speak in favor of past, and work from sharing often leads to frustration caused by the annoying ads and infinite standby time before downloading. My hack will talk about how to make the FTP-server with 15 GB of available Windows Explorer Windows + 1,5 minutes of free time.
The main component of the hack - a technology WebDav. In general, the number of services that support this very WebDav, and at the same time would provide a sufficient amount of space is quite small. Whatever it was, it turned out that 4shared (faylsheyringovy service), just one of them (15 GB of free space on the online-HDD - also a solid plus).
In truth confess, give users access to their accounts using the WebDav for sharing - it's like that bow out with a bag of money as an opportunity to show users the way advertising is reduced to zero (which is their main income item). Perhaps that's why the mention of the support WebDav can be found only by chance when browsing FAQ service.
Thus, the first to be up at the service, and then - to confirm your registration by e-mail. Half the work is already done. Now it is necessary to carry out the following steps (tested on Windows XP):
1. We press on the icon "My Computer", select "Map Network Drive":
2. Click on the "Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server":
3. In the resulting "Network Connection Wizard" Hit "Next";
4. Hit on "Choose another network location", then "Next":
5. Enter the address http://webdav.4shared.com: 80 / wa, then "Next":
6. Enter your user name (in fact e-mail) and password, then "OK":
7. Enter a name for the "this place in a network environment," Hit "Next":
8. In the resulting window, we press "Finish".
After that, you can simply go to "My Network Places" and contemplate the newly created network folder:
Clicking on it, get into your account at 4shared, ready to accept 15 gigabytes of all that your heart desires:
Undoubtedly, this method does not give the possibility to fully use the file exchanger, but for purposes of the title better imagine.
P.S. by the way, 4shared as a file-sharing service it seemed a pretty good alternative to the same Rapid Share or Depositfiles, and, judging by the blog site ( http://blog.4shared.com), many do use it (6 million. registered users and 12.5 million. daily visits to impress).
