How to Set Up Separate Profiles for Work and Personal in Safari on iOS 17
Miscellaneous / / October 26, 2023
This feature will simplify your life and make surfing the Internet more productive.
Along with high-profile innovations, Apple added a lot of subtle, but no less useful features to iOS 17. One of these is Safari profiles, which allow you to delimit Internet space for work, study, hobbies or individual projects. This feature will definitely appeal to everyone who is used to using different browsers for work and personal tasks, as well as those who are forced to share their home iPad with other family members.
Each created profile is a separate environment and, in fact, a browser in a browser, but with some caveats. So, autofill data, passwords and security settings, reading list are used in all profiles, but some elements and functions behave differently.
History, cookies, site data and settings are not transferred - each profile has its own. This means you will have to log into your accounts again. But all added environments are synchronized on all devices with yours Apple ID. When clearing history, you can choose to delete a specific profile or all.
Bookmarks from the menu of the same name are available everywhere, but the “Favorites” panel when opening new tabs can be configured separately. At the same time, in private access mode, the “Favorites” of the standard profile are displayed.
Groups of tabs, parameters of new tabs and windows are not synchronized; these elements are different for each environment. Installed extensions can be used at your choice in any profiles.
Here's how to set it all up and use it.
How to create a Safari profile
Go to Settings → Safari, scroll down a little and tap the New Profile box.
Set a name, select the appropriate icon and color, and then tap “Done.” The new profile will appear at the bottom of the list. There, under the name “Personal”, the standard profile that was used before will appear.
How to switch between Safari profiles

Click "Profile" and select the one you want. The design and settings of the environment will be changed. The profile icon will also be updated, which will make it clear which configuration is active.
