HotShots - a new tool to work with screenshots in Ubuntu
Technologies / / December 19, 2019
Not so long ago I complainedThat I for normal work in Ubuntu lacks a normal utility for capturing screenshots. Or rather not even to capture (you can even use the built-in functions of the system), and easy processing. Quite often it is necessary to make the picture explaining inscription, arrows, shades, effects and do not want to run every time that Gimp or other monsters.
This problem was solved after I caught the eye of HotShots utility. She not only knows how to do screen captures with different parameters, but perfect for editing and publication.
To capture the Scrin can use the icon in the notification area or the main window of the program, where there are buttons to capture the entire screen, active window, a rectangular or free allocated area. In addition, here you can set some basic parameters of the program, including the location to save the file, the delay before the snapshot operation after capture.
But the real value of the program opens when you start editing tools built-in images. There is almost everything that you may need to give you a screenshot of the desired type and content. Labeling, arrows, different types of allocation, token, magnifying glass, shading private information - this is not a complete list of available options. In addition, you can apply to a photo processing multiple effects, including the frame, shadow, ragged edge.
The finished image can be saved to your hard drive or one-click upload to a free cloud image storage hosting. Currently HotShots supports four such services, among which to choose the best Imgur.com, does not require registration and gives a direct link to the picture.
Set HotShots can perform the following commands in a terminal:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa: dhor / myway. sudo apt-get update. sudo apt-get install hotshots
Although some interface solutions program HotShots still far from ideal, and forced at first to think hard to find the right function, after a period of adaptation to use the program is quite possible. Especially because at the moment the best tools for working with screenshots in Linux is not available.
