Some people think that the journey - it's a great opportunity to just relax and do nothing.
For me there are two types of travel: Travel to rest when I go for a few days a long familiar place for me, and for the development of travel that require absolute returns. In the second case, I try to make the most of the trip.
Traveling for the development of a fairly tedious, but I like them the most.
If I spend the whole summer there, where already happened many times, I will live in slow-motion shooting mode: wake up late, lazy lying on a deck chair and complain that spending time unproductively. Travel must be very different. I regard them as an intense workout.
I was very lucky: my mother worked as hostess, and thanks to her I have a child know how important it is to use every opportunity discover new places. At the same time a lot of fun to hear from my father and many other people: "How can I come back from a holiday so tired? This is silly!". For them, the journey - it's just an opportunity to briefly turn off your brain and have a rest from work.
I manage to get at least some understanding, but when I explain to them that it is very tired from the flights. The fact that my height is 183 centimeters. When they realize what works I should shove your body in an economy class seat, I see in their eyes the sympathy and empathy.
But if the journey - it's intensive training, then after you, of course, you will feel tired. But at the same time feel good about themselves.
I have learned through travel
My mother often told me how a lot of useful can be learned from traveling. Later I discovered this on my personal experience. For example, I learned a lot about myself. It turns out, I always wear the same four-colored T-shirt, because I'm too lazy to push something else in my small suitcase. It turned out that I was too high for trips on all types of public transport in Japan. What if I buy a pack of patches, be sure to use it fully.
When I travel, I try to remember and to use any universal gestures and other means of communication that are understandable to everyone. When you are looking for ways to adapt to the new environment for you, passing you often find non-trivial ways to solve any everyday problems. This is what most inspires me to travel.
For example, during my recent trip to Japan, I discovered that the Japanese do not fasten eyelets, hangers for clothes the most, but they have in the hallways on the hooks always have convenient hangers.
In addition, I was pleasantly surprised is an invention of the Japanese as an umbrella parking. In Tokyo, many people that had invented a whole system for placing their umbrellas. What lads!
Even before the trip, I knew that the Japanese put up plastic windows samples from the food menu. It turns out, it's really very useful! And not just because I do not understand the hieroglyphics. Through these layouts, I could estimate the size and composition of food that I was going to eat.
Everything else, I realized that most fully immerse themselves in another culture is possible only through language, which is spoken by the locals. It helps to understand how people think around you. When I go to another country, I try to learn a few basic phrases necessary for communication: from greetings to the question "Where is the toilet?". I also try to learn more words to be able to talk about some trivia and support so that conversation.
What's interesting is the house I avoid talking to strangers. When I get a call from an unknown number, it throws me into a cold sweat (introverts will understand me). But while traveling, I use every opportunity to communicate with new people.
It would seem, why develop a new complex language when you can safely speak English? Yes, it really is a world language of communication, and it simplifies the interaction between people from different parts of the world. In addition, in such a short time, you still do not learn to understand what people are saying around you. But if a couple of phrases learned will help me satisfy my curiosity, and a little closer to understanding other cultures, these efforts are worth it.
Traveling make you better
When I get home after a journey, I feel spiritually enriched. I feel that in my daily life every day literally fill up some important news and urgent matters. After a trip to another country, I feel that mental harmony restored, got rid of many fears and believe in humanity again.
Of course, different cultures have their own pros and cons. But when you feel like you are taking the heat, as the locals are grateful to you for what you are familiar with their culture, your heart just melts. After a trip to Japan, I have only the best impressions. It seems the first time in my life I was surrounded by so honest, polite, friendly and pleasant to talk to people.
I have noticed that travel to help me change for the better. Not only did I learn a lot about yourself and about the inhabitants of other countries, I is enriched as a person.
Going beyond the comfort zone and communicating with people who think differently, influenced by my system of values and beliefs about the world. What I have found confirmation, but from something decided to abandon.
Traveling makes you smarter
You've probably already heard that the travel affect thinking. I am not referring to new ideas that come to your mind, and increase the number of neural connections in your brain.
When you change the environment and habits in your brain increases the number of neural connections. This means that the new sounds, smells, feelings, communicate in a new language and the use of unusual for you to have a positive impact of food on the brain.
Of course, to experience the effect of this, you should get out of the shell and to immerse themselves in a new environment for you. You need to try to live like the locals live.
Of course, you do not get such results, which can be achieved by moving to another country, but a change of scenery for a few weeks and will bring you many benefits. Than with a lot of cultures you know, the greater your perception. So you will be able to find more ways to solve the same problem.
Perhaps that is why there are more and more in the world digital nomads. Many employers understand the benefits of constant change of environment, therefore offering the opportunity to work remotely subordinate or leave in special circumstances.
I realized that my goal - to find the right balance between work and travel. I never give up travel because afterwards I feel renewed. I become more positive, determined and creative. In general, this is a good way to pump yourself.
Yes, travel the benefit is not so easy, and sometimes requires considerable effort on yourself. But this is exactly the case when all the cost and effort will pay off with a vengeance.
