"Thoughts Tim Cook" - is heading, which we'll talk about the Apple leader's worldview. In a series of interview Cook for Duke University, he shared his thoughts about career, about what inspires him, and much more. In the first article we will talk about the relation Cook intuition.
In 1998, Apple was on the verge of collapse. Despite this, Cook has agreed to return to the company and retired from COMPAQ, which flourished at the time.
Cook accepted the offer after talking with Jobs just five minutes. Despite all the "against", intuition told him that this was the right decision:
I do not think that people are born with intuition. It seems that it develops with the man and his ability to observe and listen.
According to Cook, despite the fact that he has an analytical mind and engineering skills, all the most important decisions he took not relying on it. Cook remembers how he raschertil sheet of paper and began to fill it with the ins and outs of working at Apple. He wanted to take the job, but the list is said to the contrary - it was a lot more minuses.
Then he turned to close friends for help in making a decision. They all advised him to refuse the offer Jobs:
You're crazy. Do you work on PC-based company (COMPAQ best in the world - approx. Ed.). How can you even think about it?
But the voice in his head told him to Cook "Go West, young man, go West ยป. This phrase attributed Horace Greeley and is associated with the historic US westward expansion. Cook decided not to fight with her and trusted her intuition.
