VOX for the iPhone: all-FLAC music library in your pocket
Makradar Technologies / / December 19, 2019
This week, the Ukrainian developers from Coppertino, it can be said, we have completed the creation of its audiophile solutions for those who want more than predalaet Apple with its ecosystem of iTunes. Player VOXKnown for his "omnivorous" finally got to the "apple" smartphone. In addition to support uncompressed audio formats, the app has something more interesting ...
Like its desktop older brother, VOX Mobile supports all popular audio formats are not included in the list of standard products for Apple, for example, FLAC, APE, OGG, and WMA. Of course, it is very convenient when you have a large audio collection in non-standard for "yabbla" formats do not need anything to transcode - just threw your favorite tracks on the iPhone and listen to the fun.
Cool feature, similar to the desktop "Vox", - integration with online music services and Internet radio. Access to SoundCloud or Last.fm directly from the player - really handy thing. And all your collections are available next to the local playlists: VOX creates a single musical environment, providing you access to your favorite tracks through a single screen. Although if you want to share "music store" - choose from the menu the desired item.
Speaking of stores... It's just that most "something" from the VOX - LOOP cloud storage area that can be downloaded though all your music and listen to it from anywhere in the world. Restrictions on the scope and format stored in a "loop" of audio data - no. Is it just to enjoy "cloud» VOX paid: monthly usage costs $ 4.99, a year - $ 49.99. On the one hand, it is twice as expensive as iTunes Match, but on the other - in the "cloud" stores all your "Flaco" without any conversion... is reason to think, right? :)
Among other interesting details should be called EQ: subjectively it is slightly better than the standard player "Music." playback control via the command post and iOS lock screen - too good. Unlike the Mac version, VOX Mobile is fully integrated into the system, and the program can be controlled by all standard methods, including remote on the headphones.
But then, to be honest, I do not fully understand is whether there is any sense to listen to uncompressed music from your phone through headphones. The motto of the program "FLAC will rule the world," certainly loud and ambitious - but to fully enjoy the same "Flake" is not needed Audio average. And it refers to the iPhone? And what headphones need to distinguish FLAC from "tuna» AAC?
The program's interface seemed to me, too, if not confusing, the least unusual. VOX is completely built on layers that are moved from top to bottom and from bottom to top - unlike a standard iOS-player Apple radical, but how does it do? However, it can be pure vkusovschina, and that's why on the playback screen displays the current song cover dirty blur - I did not understand. And on top of it - the battery service keys that are too eyesore. But the basic playback control buttons is not all: for the pause is necessary to guess the empty touch on "cover" places, and to move from track to track - move the screen left or right.
To evaluate the function of the dynamic playback queue (as in iTunes), but could not find where the queue can be viewed, for example, to change the order of songs or remove from the list of extra tracks. It is unclear why in my music library were suddenly composition with SoundCloud, if I load them on the iPhone. Only later, looking at the display settings library, I realized that automatically turns on the option to display "zvukoblachnyh" tracks that I once layknul.
In short, most of the players, in my opinion, was the most controversial both functionally and aesthetically. A lot of non-obvious things that, quite frankly, a little annoying. If we talk about non-standard solutions, the player Listen much more fun and externally, and ease of operation, even though it is much simpler in its capabilities.
However, I can not say that the VOX for iPhone failed - player fans should assess the efforts of developers. And I as a supporter of the standard Apple applications, even a little regret that in iTunes and "music" is no integration with at least SoundCloud. Solution "all in one" still more convenient, and it's a definite plus VOX.
