Eric Schmidt, the executive director and the last General Director of Google, recently gave a detailed interview to the authoritative edition of the West The Wall Street Journal (To view subscription required). Although all published material seems interesting to me, the most interesting were the words about his company's relationship with Apple. As Eric said, the two warring sides are going to solve lingering problems "as adults." The context is as follows - the relationship between Apple and Google over the past year, which is of mutual interest cooled. In particular, as you recall, from the mobile operating system iOS 6 disappeared Program YouTube and google Maps.
I quote the words of Eric Schmidt from the interview:
Our relations have always been ups and downs. Of course, we would like to continue to use Apple proprietary Google Map Maker in your operating system. In addition to the maps, they expelled from the iOS YouTube client, which is really like a lot of users. I'm not quite sure of the reasons for such action.
Journalists like to describe the model of competition, if we do not the two major technology corporations, and a pair of teenagers. Like this: "I have a gun, you have a gun, who fired first?".
Manage the corporation in an adult - like to run the country. There is always room for some differences, but there are also great opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration. Should not immediately at the first quarrel proceed to a nuclear bomb.
I think Tim [Cook, Apple CEO] And Larry [Page, Google CEO], A kind of successor to Steve Jobs and I am perfectly aware of such a business model. When they occur, and their subordinates, they have a long list of items for discussion.
Interestingly, Schmidt refused to answer a reporter's question about plans for the upcoming patent fight with the company from Cupertino. He explained that the views of companies in this matter are fundamentally different. In addition, Eric separately mentioned that he did not understand why Apple has been fighting with Google's mobile partners, such as Samsung, Motorola or HTCBut tries to avoid direct litigation directly with the developer of Android, I mean Google.
At the end of Schmidt added quite wise phrase - from lawsuits stronger suffering than Apple or Google, and the end user. For the user, much more profitable it would be amicable cooperation corporations than their enmity.
