Apple has decided to abandon the use of the file system plans ZFS in his version of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system. For reference: ZFS (Zettabyte File System) - is a file system developed by Sun Microsystems for the Solaris OS. It is distributed in open source as a project. Since the Sun and Apple co-operation is continuing in 2007, there were opinionThat the system will be used ZFS in Leopard default. Apple representatives denied this information, although the head of the Sun claimed that ZFS will be one of the options file systems in OS X Leopard - along with the HFS + file system.
It turned out that the Apple team and are not planning to implement ZFS on OS X Snow Leopard, and while not comment on this issue was not.
Such a decision Apple executives can explain the reluctance to work with the Sun due to litigation related to infringement on ZFS patent involving NetApp and Sun. In addition, Sun Microsystems company may redeem Oracle soon. And that could mean the end of the existence of such a system as a file ZFS.
But do not lose time at Apple. The company opened vacancy Developer files system, and lucky, apparently, will receive the task to create their own advanced technology file system for Mac OS X.
