How to quickly find a Unicode character

Search for Unicode characters are usually uncomfortable: it is necessary to be distracted from their main job. SymbSearch simplifies this process by cycling hot keys.

Unicode - character encoding is a standard that allows you to use almost all signs written languages. If you use a non-standard notation it, the awkward Windows character table and search on Google there is a good alternative - SymbSearch. This is a free open source utility that helps you quickly find Unicode characters by using keyboard shortcuts, without detracting from the work process.

The program does not yet have an installer. To install it, just unzip the folder in the right place on the hard drive. Then run SymbSearch.exe, and will SymbSearch in background processes. It takes 105 MB of hard disk space and 64 MB of RAM.

SymbSearch focused on the use of the keyboard. When you're typing text, press Ctrl + Alt + W to start the application. Locate the character you want, select it using the arrow keys and press Enter. Value is copied to the clipboard. Then SymbSearch alone will close and you will return to the active window text, hardly looking up from writing. All that remains - to insert the character using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V.

The initial list of characters is huge, but do not be alarmed. SymbSearch filters signs of 11 categories: the Greek alphabet, Latin, mathematics, and other arrows. To quickly switch between categories, use the Alt key.

If you already know which specific character is needed for the text or a formula, you can drive it in the search box.

Use the mouse in the program is inconvenient. SymbSearch understands clicks. To copy a symbol, you must select it and press Ctrl + C.

SymbSearch program is under active development, but it can already be used. Version 0.4.0 does not yet include such necessary functions as loading at startup, so you have to add the utility to autostart, or run it manually every time you need it.
