"I preach the qualitative approach to travels"
How did your love of travel?
The story is quite ironic. I was "lucky" to be born near Chernobyl - in the Gomel region of Belarus. Area was contaminated, so me and the other children from our region were sent for rehabilitation in Spain and in Germany. So seven years every summer I went abroad for a month.
Go from a small provincial town, where nothing has changed for decades, and see a very different world - is very important. This greatly transform consciousness.
In general, I have always loved reading and watching programs about other countries. While studying at the university, when there were money, he began to travel abroad. First in Europe, then in Asia, and then began to complicate the routes and directions.
How many countries have you already visited?
By the standards of travel-bloggers, I, of course, is rather weak - was somewhere in 30 countries. The fact that I am preaching a qualitative approach to travel.
In my opinion, it is better to go to a country in a lifetime, but to understand everything that you looked there. Rather than have time to visit all of the country and hold there for two days. Nothing to see, not to understand and live with a stereotypical and superficial representation, but to show off a beautiful figure.
Which countries do you remember most?
Most of all I remember Haiti and Tibet. These are two completely different poles, two examples are different from our worlds. Haiti - minus sign. Very dangerous, very annoying, very poor country, which in nothing and nowhere to be seen is no hope for the best.
People in Haiti live in some limbo between life and death. There is no work, no food, no comfort features and, more importantly, are no prerequisites to the fact that all of this can change for the better.
A Tibet an incredibly friendly place. Which draws its vibe, despite the fact that most local difficult to communicate: they do not speak in English, many do not even understand Chinese.
All mountain people are very hospitable, and the Tibetans are no exception. Even without words very pleasant to communicate with them. A magical place and tighten.
In Tibet, just be cool: see nature, to see people completely alien appearance with their costumes, hairstyles, jewelry. All this puts a completely different reality.
How do you choose the country to travel?
I choose the least explored places. My channel "Home sweet home" such a concept. I show those cultures and countries that we do not understand that difficult for us to understand that we tried on stereotypes and misinformation from the media and pop culture.
Or those of the state, which we seem to know a lot, but it is not. For example, India is poppin direction. But the whole image of the country and the media a little with reality. It is therefore interesting to find out what it is really how people live there. And of course, it's all show.
Which of your travels can be called the most dangerous, and some - most laytovym?
I try to avoid danger, or at least minimize it. But sometimes it is the factor that accompanies everything else.
The most terrible was just a trip to Haiti - such a negative champion. Lonely white foreigner to stay there is very dangerous.
As for laytovogo travel, it may seem that the ideal choice would be Europe or the United States. But in fact there are many mundane hazards - for example, you can become a victim of a pickpocket. So I would say that most laytovaya - Georgia.
Georgia - a country where nothing bad you can not happen. Maximum - you obeshsya to death or naposhsya to delirium tremens.
In 2018 you became a better travel-blogger on the version of National Geographic Traveler magazine's readers. What is the secret of this success?
It seems to me, here it is difficult to give advice. You never know what guided the one who chooses the nominees. And it is not entirely clear why the audience voted that way.
Just have to do something that is interesting to you. And it all comes to the genre. The only way to do something useful, informative and causes a reaction from other people.
And still need to engage in self-promotion. If you are not in any way promotes, about you few people will know. And to be in the media, it is necessary to strive for. Should be worked on.
"Do you want to blog - Take what you want, but do not travel"
That it has to be in every video self-respecting travel-blogger?
It may seem that all these projects are similar, but almost everyone has a podformat. Each travel-blogger has its own niche. Someone important to show his own reflection, their own impressions. Someone - like me - on the contrary, it would be desirable to minimize its presence and show the places and people. Someone places an emphasis on the kinds of someone - on their faces, someone - on the music.
But, perhaps, each video must be the phrase "Put huskies, sign up and click on the bell."
Do you follow other travel-bloggers?
I do not watch every video of every Russian-speaking travel-blogger. But I know what they are doing. Each periodically removes something very cool. For example, Ilya Bondarev makes great road movie, Anton Ptushkin - beautiful videos.
I'm doing a project for curious people. In my blog, the emphasis on uniqueness and inaccessibility of information that I show.
What should a newcomer know travel-blogger? Formulate 5 Important Rules
- Want to blog - Take what you want, but do not travel. It is very difficult, hemorrhoidal and costly. Make travel-blog, only if it is your passion and nothing but the travel you do not care.
- Remember: there are no bad people, countries and cultures. All human beings are inherently good and the same. We need to treat everyone as a friend. Then the whole world for you will be the same kind and positive.
- Do only what you are interested. Often, when people are trying to go on something trending or guess the audience tastes, turns weak content. In addition, if a long time to be engaged in what you do not understand, will be gone passion and sincerity.
- Grow. Always trying to do something new. Look for different angles, do not create a video of the same scheme: Play format, try to be the director. It's refreshing. At some point, when you travel a lot, everything ceases to amaze. We have to learn to look at things from an unexpected quarter.
- Do not be afraid. Sometimes you just need to act, and to think only then. Sometimes, if one thinks too much or refleksiruesh, ultimately did not do anything.
What should be in your backpack at the travel-blogger?
The camera and smartphone. Last covers all the organizational issues: a bank, interpreter, guide and much more in your pocket. Everything else is completely optional and depends on the level of comfort to which you are accustomed. And what kind of weight on your back, you are ready to drag.
To mount a blog, of course, need more equipment.
For example, what?
Simply remove the content on YouTube is no longer enough. The platform is developing rapidly, there is stiff competition. You just do not have a chance to survive if you do bad in terms of quality of content.
Therefore, the travel-blogger need a good camera, microphones, stabilizer, hard drives, flash drives, pauerbanki. And to all this with friends, I need a new laptop.
Laptop is needed to keep the material otsmatrivat, edit, process, pouring on YouTube. At a time when all you're wearing on your back, the computer should be easy, the most portable and thin.
In all of these characteristics perfectly falls ASUS ZenBook S13 UX392Which I'm testing. Very thin, very light, well-hidden, even in urban backpack. All connectors have: You can connect multiple devices. All perfectly connects.
I have a tablet with a keyboard, the feelings they ZenBook weigh the same. Only by filling it completely disparate things: ZenBook - high-grade, high-quality laptop.
Charging fantastically compact: almost like a smartphone, generally does not take place. It superkruto because usually charge very enraged: a large, heavy, with thick wires.
If you had to climb Everest and carry out translation, handy to ASUS ZenBook?
Frankly, if I conquer the mountain tops - a laptop, I would not take it. Because even the extra 500 grams in a definitive lack of oxygen are converted to 5 kilograms.
But, of course, to mount a video about the ascension process and life in the camp, Zenbook would fit perfectly. He survived several checks on the military standard grade MIL-STD-810G. It tested at an altitude, extreme temperatures, and it always worked perfectly. Plus ZenBook lives for a long time without recharging. Autonomy - zhirnyuschy plus.
Would advise the ASUS Zenbook novice travel-bloggers?
Do without a laptop travel-blogger is almost impossible. A Zenbook, probably an ideal option. In it converge all the necessary for a blogger features: thin laptop, with excellent sound, with a wide-screen TV, productive, with more ports. You get a machine with possibilities for a full cycle of work on the material.
In ZenBook a great ergonomic keyboard for writing the script and editing. When power is connected with a compact size - is high.
And what is more useful in the traveling Zenbook?
The laptop is not only a working tool but also a gadget for entertainment. When you're several months in foreign places and countries, and each of your day - endless shooting, interviews, search for people and locations, at some point the power. Just need to rest. At least half a day to sit in the hotel and do nothing.
I periodically arrange themselves such fasting days. I'm sitting in a hotel room and watch bad sitcoms Russian, so that nothing is forced to strain the brain.
The screen ZenBook virtually frameless, the sound of the Harman / Kardon. This laptop - a wonderful companion on the trip.
The laptop can always carry with them: it as compact as possible (a thickness of 12.9 mm) and lightweight (1.1 kgs). In this Zenbook - a complete working machine: for fast and efficient execution of tasks responsible processor Intel® Core ™ i7 eighth-generation discrete graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 and 16 gigabytes of RAM memory.
