Now, in the first days of the new year, all begin life with a clean slate, lose weight without mind and without memory, and often ask: how to force myself to do sports? Or exercise a no.
I've been doing since 19 years, can not remember how many rooms and coaches have seen over the years. Sam coach for ten years in total. And I was born from the experience of a simple answer to the essential question this: nothing. Do not force yourself in any way. People who can bring myself to exercise, the question "how" are not defined. They are by nature endowed with will power, to help them achieve success. This post is not for them. This post is for ordinary people, not endowed with superhuman abilities, but instead enriched full-weight set of neuroses, fears and expectations.
There are two ways of motivation: "violent" (it's just when you need to make yourself) and "encouraging" (this is where you need to be inspired). Figure out what you need to do is very simple. Ask yourself: What do I need? If your goal will require some super efforts (get on the cover of a glossy magazine, to win the tournament on boxing for the fans, raise the barbell weighing half a ton), then it's simple - you Rent a professional trainer who volens-nolens will squeeze out of you, these are super, and under his magical slap you will quickly understand everything and about the "cause" and about the «no pain - no gain ».
If you have more earthly goal, such as "lose weight for the summer," or simply "to feel comfortable in his own body" then you may want to stop forcing yourself to do something that the soul does not lie, and try to find what you inspire.
Here is an example. Since my childhood I hate running. Nevertheless, I had to run a lot. At various times, I ran from the "five" to "dozens" every day, and once even ran a marathon foolish and nearly dead. Every time I had to go for a run, I started to hate myself. Own life. Own choice. Each punch shoe in forest path or treadmill accompanied abusive exhalation. Of course, having reached the "age of Christ", I finally scored a run.
For a while, I replaced jogging jumping rope, but last year discovered Nordic walking. For me, it really was the "discovery of the year": this is a great way to exist a whole light from top to bottom, and load the hands and feet, "stir up" the spine, and so on. And now I do not need to invent sophisticated motivational moves, the legs themselves carried me to the park. I am glad to walk with sticks for six to eight kilometers almost every day. Moreover, I curse the days when walking breaks or when I have to close the distance due to time pressure.
One more example. As a child, I tried judo, athletics, cycling. And, to be honest, I hated the sport as such. I thought that I hate any physical activity... While the age of 19 he discovered the Okinawan karate. I was amazed at the wealth that was hidden there, and started to train 20-25 hours per week, leaving for himself only day off on Sunday. Of course, then life has changed and I had to revise my schedule. But the inspiration, I still remember.
The latest example. I hate yoga. I've been on a few activities that were my very qualified friends, and every time they come out with cursing all life on what was worth. For me, yoga - it hurt and mad boring. I understand that all this is terribly useful, we do not look younger by the day and stuff blah blah blah. But the idea that I even ever have to grind the ligaments on the mat for yoga, terrifies me.
But then I remembered dzyumbi undo - set of breathing, stretching and strength exercises that Sodzyun Miyagi came up in the 20s of the last century. This complex has been specially created to simple Okinawan fisherman could keep themselves in a form suitable for martial arts. This beautiful complex by the fact that out of it as out of Lego blocks, you can mold what you need. You want - you add stretching module you want - power. And again I forgot about the "push yourself". I like to experiment with these exercises by adding or removing one or the other. When I arrived after a long break in training for Hapkido, it turned out that I was quite a fit.
self-training secret to me twenty years ago opened a master karate Shito-ryu:
You can never bring myself to give everything to the full-exercising alone. It's over the fact that, once forcing himself to make super efforts, you just hate yourself and spit on employment. To successfully train a lifetime, you do not need to work one hundred percent, and with semidesyatiprotsentnoy load. For example, you can catch a maximum of ten times and then die from the pain. Okay, but you should be able to catch up in relative comfort, seven times, is not it? Here and increase this volume, without ever stopping.
In Buddhism, this is illustrated by the way the continuing efforts of an elephant or a turtle, because these animals are never in a hurry, but never stop.
I think this is quite productive way of thinking training:
- to work with the 70-percent load, not with 100 percent, but do it honestly;
- not "die" in training, and to finish it to the peak of endorphin, retaining freshness and inspiration for the next workout;
- experiment and search;
- never stop.
Stop deceiving yourself and seek sophisticated ways of violent self-motivation. Just look for the kind of physical activity that will inspire you, and do marvel at the changes that will happen to you. Blessing now have to choose from.
Believe me, as long as you are looking for support outside myself, looking for "who would make you" try to think in line with the violent motivation, you do not change. You will for years to sigh and think, instead of like an elephant proudly go forward, never stopping.
Inspiration. Here's what to look for, to really change. Good luck and good health!
