You come home from work, a favorite dog greets you happily wagging his tail and licking his nose and cheeks. All this looks quite harmless, but best not to let your dog do that.
In the mouth, the majority of animals contain large amounts of bacteria, viruses and yeasts. The saliva of dogs contain proteins that help cleanse or heal their wounds, but there are organisms that are harmful to humans.
The bacteria in a dog's saliva, such as Clostridium, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Campylobacter can cause gastro-intestinal diseases.
This does not mean that dogs absolutely can not be allowed to face. If the saliva gets on the skin with no scratches or wounds, the probability to catch small. That's because saliva poorly absorbed through the skin. But through the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth and eyes and may just reach the bacteria. Therefore it is better not to let the dog lick your face.
Also bacteria in saliva, are contained in the body of animals and intestinal parasites. In the week in the intestines puppy appears between 20 and 30 million eggs of roundworms, which can also cause certain infections.
When communicating with the dogs follow the precautions:
- Make sure the dog did all the necessary vaccinations.
- New pets must undergo deworming - a procedure that destroys and prevents parasites.
- Keep pet in feces of other dogs.
- Daily Wash hands with soap and water.
