The article - visual experiment that shows how much a simple hygienic procedure affects the amount of bacteria on your hands.
Hand washing is one of the most useful hygienic habits of man. According to Israeli scientists, this procedure reduces the risk of infection of intestinal disease by 30%, and respiratory - 40%. However, these remarkable results can be achieved only if you know how to wash their hands properly.
In order to answer this question, a journalist Jenny Egg (Jennie Agg) conducted an experiment, showing how much hand washing affects the amount of bacteria and other microorganisms present in the our hands.
First Jenny inflicted on their hands special gel, which contains very fine particles, approximately corresponding to the size of bacteria. Another interesting feature of this gel is that these particles can glow when irradiated with ultraviolet light. This way you can fairly accurately determine how handwashing could cleanse the skin. The lighter the hand in the photo, so they are dirtier and darker than they are, the cleaner.
Easy rinsing
Many people, especially when in a hurry, is considered sufficient just to rinse your hands. As you can see in this photograph, this procedure does not have a strong effect on bacteria. Slight browning is observed only on the fingertips, and the rest of the hand remained virtually unchanged.
six seconds
According to the omniscient statistics, most people spend on hand-washing is not more than six seconds. Surprised? However, even such a short period of time can provide good results, especially if you use soap. The photo shows that the skin of the experimenter has acquired a much darker hue, and thus became purer.
fifteen seconds
In a studyCarl P. Borchgrevink, JaeMin Cha, SeungHyun Kim.Hand Washing Practices in a College Town Environment. University of Michigan, it was found that only 5% of people wash their hands for 15 seconds or more. However, that is how much time it takes to remove virtually all bacteria from the surface of your hands. In the photo we see the arm on which there were only minor spots of the gel, indicating its purity.
As you can see, for good hygiene is absolutely insufficient just to help hand. Take this process a little more time, be sure to use soap, and you get a really good result.
