The second season of the "World of the Wild West": 10 possible answers to the main questions
Cinema / / December 19, 2019
June 24 ended the second season of one of the most ambitious show of recent years - the "World of the Wild West." As promised the creators, the story of a futuristic amusement park came to a radically new level and we know the territorial limits.
Such an ambitious idea for the season is not only a sense of genius played out party, but also a shock because of some story-making. And it leaves a lot of questions.
1. What is this idyllic space where the left part of the androids?
In the last episode of the second season, Bernard briefly opened a portal to digital measurement, which shifted the consciousness of the robots led by Indian Akechetoy. In particular, the "new world" and suicides fell shortly before Teddy: Dolores its control module separately loaded into the system.
But what is this measure and why it is so similar to paradise?
Judging by the statements of showrunner, they really wanted to create a sort of afterlife virtual space where androids may finally become truly free.
But do not rush to say goodbye to all who left the corporeal shell heroes. In the end, we are talking about "
The world of the Wild West"And, therefore, in part next season may well unfold in this digital Eden.2. Where to go and consciousness gone androids Dolores?
In that last episode we see how Dolores (already in the body of Charlotte Hale) changes position and sends the consciousness of those who went into a digital paradise, in a certain point. "I send them to where no one would ever find them," - said Dolores Bernard.
Could this be the real world, such as the house of Arnold? One of the six existing parks? Or other secret place where Dolores will be able to recreate them in the new shell?
And in general, whether Dolores going to restore the old androids or prefer to design their own (after the second season, we are convinced that it has such capabilities)?
All these issues have so far remained unanswered.
3. Which one of the androids Dolores took with him?
We know that escaped from the park Dolores took with him five control modules. One of them was Bernard module: we see it in the final, facing towards the human world.
However, apart from his bag Dolores it was still four modules. Who exactly?
Probably, the androids, which will be useful in the implementation of Dolores its plan to destroy humanity. For example, Angela, Clementine or papa Abernathy. In particular, one of them could easily Dolores implant into the body of Charlotte Hale, wherein escaped from the park.
What we do know is that Teddy among them will be gone.
4. Is Maeve back?
The entire second season Maeve worked that travel to other parks in search of her daughter and ideologically opposed Dolores. If the latter is protected against people with fire and sword, then Maeve took the path of compassion and saved, for example, a staff writer ass "World of the Wild West," Lee Sizemore.
The last time we saw Maeve at the door. She sacrificed herself to help her daughter to go into a virtual paradise. And he was brutally crammed with lead fighters "Delos".
In some extent, for the selfless heroine is a worthy finale. However, not the fact that the story was over.
In the scene on the beach two accompanying Maeve park employees, Tom and Sylvester ordered to check all robots viability. And it is quite bold allusion to the fact that in the third season of May still shows itself.
5. Stubbs aware of what is happening (and on whose side he was on)?
Surprisingly, it was Luke Hemsworth's character, stubborn head of security Stubbs, managed really surprise us in the second season.
In one of the most intriguing of the tenth episode of the scenes he stops Dolores revived in the body of Charlotte Hale and is going to slip away by boat from the park.
During their conversation Stubbs explains that he was hired by Ford, who gave him a role which he has followed since then without question. What does this mean?
Firstly, that Stubbs is likely to know about Dolores.
Secondly, Stubbs, perhaps, itself a creation of the Ford, another android, who all this time was undercover.
At least that explains why he missed Dolores Hale in the world of men, while doubting its human essence.
But does this mean that Stubbs followed Ford's story? Or it has its own consciousness?
Speaking of the Ford.
6. Whether to wait for the next return of Robert Ford?
resurrectionPerhaps the main character "World of the Wild West," this time, it seems, is not expected. In the final episodes of the second season, we see Bernard, who does not want to follow the advice of the owner, Ford erases from its digital consciousness.
Later, Ford once again appears briefly in a scene on the beach. But only in order to say goodbye to Bernard (and possibly all viewers).
According to one of the series showrunner Lisa Joy, the hero of Anthony Hopkins, "gone forever." However, just as we naively thought before, when Dolores knocked Ford brains in the finale of the first season.
So do not completely expunged the old man returns from a list of possible next season.
7. Is William robot really?
The last time we saw William in a tent on the beach, the wounded, but clearly alive. So he definitely experienced the action of the second season.
However, at the scene after the credits, which, according to showrunner, takes place already in the distant the futureWilliam is still in the man in the black suit. He descends into the Forge (secret location in the park, where the company "Delos" stores data ever visited the "Wild West" guests) and finds them murdered daughter Emily. More precisely, its android version.
Emily android invites William to the room where he spent years testing the digital consciousness of the former owner of the park, James Delos. She tells William that this is not a simulation and that they are testing it for a long time, checking for "authenticity." Sounds familiar, is not it?
On the one hand, all this confirms longstanding concern fans series:
Man in black - a robot. How else to explain the fact that he still has not died from multiple gunshot wounds?
On the other - all this can be just a dream, William turned off on the beach.
In one, according to the creators, we can be sure. Since the action of the scene is developing in the future, William, of which we see after the credits - is not the same William, we knew the first two seasons.
8. Everything that happens - is a game that Ford invented for William?
The ninth series, we see one of the last meetings with William Ford in the real world. The action takes place during the soiree of "Delos" shortly before his suicide wife of William, after which he finally lost himself in the park.
During a short conversation Ford gives William profile with records of all visits Man in Black in the "Wild West." In fact, this dirt, showing his true self.
"No more games", - answers it clearly irritated William. "Perhaps there was one last game," - says Ford after him.
All this suggests the already hodivshuyu in fan circles, the idea that the events that happened in the first two seasons - a game that Robert Ford before his death for some reason arranged for William.
Maybe everything that happens in the series - the fruit of imagination, illusion, in which William and floundering desperately seeking a way out.
Hopefully the third season somehow clarify our guesses.
9. What is the difference between people from android (and is there any difference between them)?
In a sense, the second season of the "World of the Wild West" after the first one continues to ask the same questions that tormented the characters of the novel Philip K. Dick "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".
What's the difference between robots and humans? In one of the most fascinating scenes of the tenth episode of the show's creators try to give your answer to this question.
This is the moment when the Forge system in the guise of Logan Delos shares with Dolores Bernard and his knowledge of human nature. She explains that before it was given the task to design the most believable digital copy of the human mind, starting with James Delos, the former owner of the park.
To do this, the system has developed 18 million copies of Delos, but they all come to the same point in his life: the day when he turned away from his own son, which led to his death.
From a philosophical point of view, at this stage there are two conclusions. Firstly, that the presence of a truly free will - a myth. Secondly, the nature of consciousness and its behavior is dictated by the key moments in a person's life - and we are not able to change them.
But if each of the tens of millions of copies of Delos pushed his son, unable to overcome his nature, does this mean that each of the possible variations of Dolores manages to leave the park? Or that, whatever fate Maeve, at the right time it will still be sacrificed for the sake of her daughter?
Do we live in a programmed world, in the end, or you can administer their own destiny?
Despite the fact that Ford is represented in the series by the sole architect of the "World of the Wild West", a kind of divine figure, and people still been positioned as the only free beings, this short episode raises the concept of the show to a new level understanding. It turns out that the man, as opposed to artificial reason android, he did not have authority over his own life and his consciousness can be represented in the form of a short algorithm.
10. Do not change the name of the series is time?
At the last minute of the second season we see Bernard, who woke up people in the world. It is the home of one of the founders of the park - Arnold, in the image and likeness of which once was created. Bernard comes to the door, she opens it and smiles, before you cross the threshold.
What he sees outside of the home? What a new world awaits him? What will his relationship with Dolores, which, although it gave him back his body, but remains on the other side?
One thing is certain: the main action of the third season for the first time will not be deployed on the territory of the "World of the Wild West." This means that the series is ripe to change, and its name.
