Guide the creativity of Jim Jarmusch: all the films and the basic techniques of director

Jim Jarmusch always creates movies on his own script, and on their terms. His paintings are easily recognizable, because the director takes a special style, abandoning the plot dynamics and bright colors. Over the years creativity Jarmusch took not so many feature films. But each of them deserves attention.

After working as an assistant to legendary director Nicholas Ray, Jim Jarmusch decided to make his first film. Picture author has managed only 15 thousand dollars, but critics praised the style and unconventional approach to work.
Already in the "leave without end" it can be seen techniques that Jarmusch will use in most of their following works: love for a long desert landscapes, leisurely narrative pace and increased focus not on global events, and on the little things life.
2. Stranger Than Paradise

3. Outlaw

DJ Zac once again lost his job because of his stubbornness. Wanting to get the money, he agrees to surpass the stolen car, but ends up in jail. There he meets a pimp Jack and Italian Roberto, who knows in English only a few phrases. However trio decides to escape.
This film is also shot in black and white and then bright displays Jarmusch approach: the main thing in his paintings - human communication and the intersection of fates. There are no unnecessary drama, just the characters meet, talk, and then parted forever.
Special mention deserves the cast. Ever since the first movie director tried not to dwell only on the American actor, telling about the fate of people from other countries. "Outside the Law" continued this tradition. The film starring Italian Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi.
In addition, one of the main roles played by the musician Tom Waits. Subsequently they became good friends with Jarmusch. Waits appeared in the following works directed and wrote soundtracks to his films.
Tom is also included in the humorous club "Sons of Lee Marvin," based Jarmusch. They are people who look like they could be the sons of actor Lee Marvin (he was tall, with white hair and very deep voice).
4. Mystery train

Events three stories take place in the rooms of the hotel "Arcadia" in Memphis. The first story is about a young couple fans of rock 'n' roll from Japan, arrived at the home of Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins. Woman walks lead all the same, "Arcadia", where she rents a room with a stranger, who escaped from a violent guy. The third story is dedicated to just this guy who gets drunk with his buddies.
Starting with "Mystery Train" Jarmusch regularly shares its films into several parts. Fragments-novels share a common scene or some minor references, but each story is quite self-sufficient.
In "Mystery Train" again gathered actors from different countries, and on the role of the port director invited musician Screamin 'Jay Hawkins, whose song can be heard even in the film "Stranger Than Paradise". Tom Waits, too, participated in the work on the film - his voice on the radio.
And by the way, careful selection of voices - one of the reasons why Jarmusch opposes dubbing their films. He believes that the sound in the context of the dialogue actors should remain unchanged.
5. Night on Earth

In five cities of the world in a taxi place encounters. In Los Angeles, the girl-driver drives up the agent on the selection of actors and gets a chance to audition. Jarmusch again divided the film into several pieces, and Tom Waits wrote all the music. According to the director, he came up with the script in just a week, but then the production was delayed.
Difficulties caused shooting in different countries: in Italy's film crew was arrested because of the lack of passports, and in Finland, the car broke down right on the tramways and almost cause an accident.

6. corpse

IN "Dead Man"The director returned to the holistic narrative, but again refused to color. Also added to the plot ambiguity in the spirit of David Lynch. He believes that the spectator himself can decide at what point the protagonist died and what part of the narrative fiction to consider.

Aged ladies' man Don Johnston receives a letter. One of the ex-girlfriends said that 20 years ago, just after breaking up with him, she discovered she was pregnant. She asks nothing, Don, just wrote that her grown-up son is now trying to find his father. The hero decides to visit all his former girlfriends to find out who sent the letter.
In terms of building the plot the film is probably the most mainstream among the works Jarmusch. The action is often inclined to traditional drama or even melodrama.
Yet the director did not finish the painting-one happy ending, allowing the viewer to think about their own ending. And for the most attentive add interesting "easter eggs": In one of the scenes have a real son of Bill Murray, who played a major role.

But over time, the picture has become a truly iconic. It shows the triumph of form over content and makes the viewer to search for meaning, even where it is actually not.

This picture can be regarded as recognition of Jarmusch's love for poetry and music. In his view, even the creatures who have lived for hundreds of years, find the meaning of existence only through art. the film is full image shots with musical instruments and background often sound poetry.
As for the story, after the first trial shows director was criticized for being in the movie little action. Then he remounted painting, removing almost all the action scenes. So he wanted to show that the action is not important to her.

13. Gimme Danger. History of Iggy and The Stooges
