Avoid these names in iCloud Drive
News Web Services / / December 19, 2019
No matter how careful you may not be able to synchronize with iCloud a folder called Dropbox. It turned out that this is not the only restriction to the Apple cloud service.
Specify that the folder itself can be set up, but it will not be synchronized with other devices. On a Mac, it will be displayed c labeled "non-compliant" without synchronization icon.
Developer Malcolm Hall posted Stack Exchange on the list of unacceptable names of files in iCloud.

Developer Software macOS Michael Tsai also He notedThat adding an empty file with the name ".nosync"Does not give the synchronized folder. This can be used for selective data synchronization. If that does not work, give the name of the folder that ends in ".nosync ».
Why do we need this restriction? It seems that users do not copy root folders Dropbox or other services and add them to iCloud Drive with all the hidden files which will conflict with iCloud. As a result, two cloud service will "fight" for the same files, which can lead to loss of data or the creation of unnecessary copies.
