Twitter Lite - a quick and easy version of Twitter

Twitter launched a new fast-track version of its mobile website called Twitter Lite. It is designed primarily for users in developing countries, as well as areas with low speed internet and expensive traffic.

Twitter Lite weighs less than a megabyte of traffic and supports saving mode that blurs images and videos, as long as they are not visible. Developers promise that the Lite version on most devices with a 3G-internet will load within five seconds.

According to the data service, the download is accelerated by 30% and at the same site saves up to 70% of the traffic.

Twitter Lite was developed in partnership with Google in Progressive Web App format, that is, it is a site that functions as an application. On Android, it has additional features such as push notifications. If you add it as a shortcut to the home screen of your smartphone, it will be displayed in the same way as native applications. On the iOS home screen you can also add Twitter Lite, but push notifications are not supported.

Web application works just like a regular Twitter mobile: with a list of notifications, tabs for search and a personal message, as well as other familiar features. It can be used in a narrow window on the desktop, which is convenient for Twitter users who have not installed or not supported Mac- and Windows-based applications.
