IPhone hacking with Face ID with glasses and electrical tape

Researchers in the field of cyber security demonstrated an unusual way to crack the iPhone, protected Face ID Face Detection system. To do this, it took them only ordinary glasses and electrical tape.

The method works only if iPhone is activated focus detection function that checks whether you are looking at a smartphone. When its activation if the user wearing glasses, Face ID will not read 3D-information in the field eye. The system "sees" where abstract black band with white dots.

It is this feature of the experts decided to use the company Tencent. They took regular glasses for computer work and stick to them two black rectangle with white dots in the center.

If you wear these glasses on the iPhone owner who is unconscious or simply sleeping, the system Face ID will not notice a dirty trick and unlock the smartphone. In other words, the glasses allow to bypass the protection, which checks whether the user is looking at the screen smartphone.

In theory, this loophole may well be exploited. However, this method looks as a last resort, after all, probably much easier to force the user to remove the protection on their own. What do you think?
