Psychologist Jill Gringross from Aberystwyth University and his colleagues assessed the ability of North Carolina to the humor in people of different sexes. Their aim was to find out whether the stereotype of the truth about what men sense of humor developed better than women.
Gringoss noted in article on Psychology Today:
This stereotype shared by both men and women - but, of course, this does not mean that it is valid.
Scientists analyzed data from 28 previous studies in which psychologists have evaluated how well developed sense of humor test. Total 5027 people took part in the tests.
In most of these tests, participants were asked to come up with a funny text for comics. The results are anonymized and given to an independent evaluation of judges. After analyzing all of the data revealed that 63% of men's ability to come up with jokes is better developed than that of the average woman.
But Gringross elaborates:
The fact that statistically men joke is better, does not mean that every man's sense of humor is better than any woman. History knows many excellent comedian girls - including Sarah Silverman, Tina Frey, Ali Wong, Lucille Ball, Joan Rivers and many others. Each of them can tell better than the 99.9% of men.
The team has also put forward the theory with which it can be connected. It is proved that the evolutionary humor played an important role in the search for a partner. In the days of hunting and gathering, he served as including an indicator of the mind - that is why in the course of the evolution of women preferred partners. Men, on the contrary, like when a woman is laughing at his jokes.
As a result, a sense of humor has been the object of competition among men is as a way of to impress woman. At the same time the sense of humor of the woman was not historically so important for men.
The response to this survey was explosive from the female comedians. Eleanor Morton, Marina Bay and the other girls called it "meaningless" and "boring."
It's just another boring 'study' that claims women do not NEED to be funny to find a mate so we're not. Nothing new.

It's just another "study" claiming that the woman does not need to be able to joke, to find a mate - so we do not know how. Nothing new.
