Lenovo U300s Ultrabook Overview
Tips / / December 19, 2019
Lenovo U300s - a typical representative of the first wave of ultrabooks. Intel strictly controls key parameters by which, ultrabook ultrabook is, and not something else. At the same time, unlike the Asus and other manufacturers from Lenovo U300s has a predecessor - the U260 laptop.
The result of these "chips" of evolution were:
- The one-piece aluminum body
- Quick loading (10.5 seconds)
- Long battery life (up to 8 hours)
- The glass touchpad
- "Breathable" keyboard
- Quick charge (50% in 30 minutes)
Outwardly, the Lenovo U300s produces a very favorable impression. Black steel looks very attractive and stylish. In addition to this there are more colors orange - youth and stylish variant manufacture. The top cover is grooved logo Lenovo. It is worth noting that unlike most ultrabooks body is not wedge-shaped and has an equal thickness over its entire length. Due to the slightly protruding edges of the lid gives the impression that you hold in the hands of an expensive hardcover. The lower solid panel, it is glued license Windows and engraved logo Microsoft Windows and Intel.
The inner panel are made of the same material and has the appearance ultrabuka highly finished appearance. The kit manufacturer specifically put a cloth for wiping.
The left side panel contains the port USB 2.0, ventilation grille and Onekeyrecovery button. The right side is reserved for the universal audio jack, USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, and a power connector. I would like to see on the body as a card reader. If the "wedge" ultrabooks this decision is understandable, what prevents to increase the number of Lenovo under this arrangement, the housing - is unclear.
Location of ports is not very convenient from the point of view that is usually located on the right mouse, and it is on this side of the rendered frequently used audio jack and power connector. If you connect more and USB device - such as an external hard drive USB 3.0, there is a whole tangle that prevents work. I believe that it would be advantageous to place the ports on the left and on the right to leave the USB 2.0.
"Iron" filling the traditional for the higher price segment: mobile IntelCore i7 and SSD. The speed of the SSD is at a high level. Applications run quickly, and best of all is the almost instantaneous output from a sleep state. After opening the lid ultrabook can work in a couple of seconds.
Mobile processor Intel Core i7 2677M has a nominal frequency of 1.8 GHz and is capable of increasing it to 2.6 GHz in TurboBoost mode. Intel HD Graphics 3000 integrated graphics displays the image on the panel with a resolution of 1366 × 768. The quality of the integrated graphics can not only easy to work with office applications, but also play modern games. StarCraft II even went quite comfortable (at 25-30 frames per second).
RAM soldered on the motherboard, its volume is 4 GB and it works in single channel mode. Unfortunately, this gives a slight drop in productivity in the read-write operations. But I want to praise LenovoU300s for Intel wireless network card that supports Wireless Display technology (WiDi). Advanced technology is spreading, and soon the presence of WiDi is a prerequisite for high-end devices.
The keys have an unusual shape, which the manufacturer calls a Smile. The edges of the raised keys, and so when you press your finger slips slightly in the middle of the button. Keyboard breathable, i.e. air intake occurs directly through the panel, and air is ejected between the screen and the bottom housing panel. Backlit keypad unfortunately absent.
The touchpad is large, comfortable, but very loud. Clicks sound much louder than the keyboard. The touchpad surface is very sensitive to touch, and pressing, no effort will not have to make at work.
The speakers are located directly under the keyboard, sound clear and qualitative. Listening to music and watching movies will be pleasant and comfortable.
General impression of the Lenovo U300s more positive, harmonious design eye-catching, high-performance meets the requirements of some flaws in the present version, but this is more due to the debut ultrabook segment, in the future engineers probably take into account and correct most comments. LenovoU300s would be a good choice for many types of users, I hope that the projected success of ultrabooks will be fully separated by this model.
