VIDEO: Phil Hansen on how to limit the expanded his world
Tips / / December 19, 2019
In his speech at the TED Phil Hansen, artist, favorite genre of creation of which was pointillism (Stylistic direction in painting, based on the manner of writing separate (non-isolated) strokes correctly, point or rectangular), tells the story of how he had to abandon his passion for acquired tremor hands.
The doctor told him to reconcile and find a way out of this situation, using hand what is available to him. In the end, Phil tried a lot of interesting projects. And the strangest thing was that humility and his limitations in front of him opened the bottomless ocean of new possibilities. If it was not a problem with the hand, the idea simply would never have occurred to him. Restrictions helped him open up a whole new world, which he now shared with all through his creative projects.
We can hardly consider the restrictions, as a source of creativity, but perhaps this is the best way to pull itself out of stagnation and to rethink the category, as well as to challenge accepted norms.
