Is the iPhone and other mobile phones substitutes cameras?
Tips / / December 19, 2019
Until that time, we thought that, in principle, if you do not need a very high-quality photos for home viewing, high-quality camera in your phone will be enough. A camera - it is tinkering with settings, choice of lenses and in general, it is not so easy, take up much space and is expensive.
But our view changed a bit at the moment, and we realized that sometimes the camera, after all, needed. And for high-quality photos is not required fancy and expensive SLR. Some cameras in the price range up to $ 600 to cope with this problem worse.
So which is better and why? Today we offer you to view the holders of ordinary cameras, SLR cameras and those who prefer the iPhone.
Jamie Dihyansan. Fujifilm X100S and Nexus 4
I really wanted to get this camera and waited a long time until it will be possible to buy it. Like a fixed focal length (35 mm) and photos in low light with high sensitivity (ISO 6400) obtained very good quality. Also, I use the Nexus 4 for photos to Instagram, Facebook, and just a quick Polaroid pictures in style.
Instant raise. Panasonic GF-1 and iPhone
I have a Panasonic GF-1 with the Pancake Lens (so-called wide and thin lens). The chip in the camera burned out, so I do not have a working camera. I would like to buy a new one, which would come available in my lenses.
At the moment I use the camera that is always with me - my iPhone.
Ryan Singer. nikon D7000
I D7000 W c lens of 35 mm, which in the end is similar to the 50 mm because of the size of the camera sensor. I like the high sensitivity of the camera and how it's like for optically 35-50 mm range.
I often take it with you on a trip or an important event. But often, in the end, I leave the bag, because I do not really like it when he is constantly hanging on my neck or on your arm. And because of that, I inevitably do photos to your iPhone.
And these pictures are usually upset me when I upload them to your computer. The colors and the resolution is too sharp, wide-angle distorts the objects that are in the foreground and creates too much empty space when shooting landscapes.
Sean Hayldner. Canon 5D Mk II
I use Canon 5D Mk II, a stabilizer Redrock Micro Field Cinema Deluxe DSLR Rig, Ikan monitor 7 inches and Rode microphone. Lens - Canon 24-105 mm f / 4L. And yes, I do need it, dammit!
Anton Koldaev. Canon 7D, GoPro Hero 3, iPhone
I like to shoot extreme sports. Especially in summer. I have a Canon 7D with a wide angle lens and GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. Unfortunately, I do not always have time to spare for video and photo editing, so the majority of the footage is stored in the original format.
In any case, the most used camera - it's my iPhone.
Jason Fried. iPhone
The only camera that I have - it's my iPhone. It has all the features that I need, and it is always with me.
Jonas Downey. Nikon D40 and iPhone
I have an old Nikon D40 and we still use it on special occasions. But I rarely take it with you ever since I got my iPhone, which the photos are quite suitable for most photos Instagram and my pancakes.
Taylor Vibli. Canon 5D Mk II and Panasonic TS1
At the moment I have Canon 5D Mk II, which appeared after the T2i. My standard lens - Canon EF 24-105 mm f / 4.0L. But I would like to purchase a few lenses.
I also have a Panasonic TS1, which I take to the beach, as it is waterproof (depth - 10 feet). Get great shots in nature.
Jason Zimdars. iPhone
I believe that camera in my iPhone - the best that I have ever had. I do not need a separate camera.
Scott Upton. Nikon D70s and iPhone
I have a Nikon D70 with lens 50mm / f1.8, but I do not use it as often as I would like. In spite of all the available cloud-based file storage system, the selection of the photos still takes me too much time and effort. So I usually returns to its iPhone and Instagram.
John Williams. Canon T1i and Canon Elan7
Recently, I often return to work with film cameras. I have a Canon Elan7, which I really like. For shooting, I often used the film Ilford HP5 400, because I like her grit. Lenses - Canon 50 mm or 1.8 EF Canon EF 85 mm. And I like the delay, which enables the use of the film, because you can not see the image immediately after shooting.
From digital cameras I use a Canon EOS Rebel T1i, and carry it with you is much easier than my Elan7.
Lenses: Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 85 mm 1.8, Canon 135 mm 2.8 Softfocus, Canon 28-105 3.5-4.5 mm, 4-5.6 mm Canon 18-85
Joan Stewart. iPhone and Canon Rebel T2i
Most often I use the camera on my iPhone. I also have a Canon Rebel T2i, which I bought a few years ago and which removes a high-quality video.
Javan Makmal. iPhone, 35 mm Olympic Sylus Epic, 120 mm Rolleiflex
iPhone 5 - is the only digital camera that I have. Of course, all of my my favorite pictures were taken a film camera. Digital pictures seem to me too perfect. And the film has its own character.
I have two film cameras: Olympic Sylus Epic 35 mm and 120 mm old Rolleiflex.
Sam Stephenson. Leica D-LUX 3 and iPhone
I'm not a photographer and do not know much about photography. I have a Leica D-LUX 3, which I like more as an object. And I use it only when I need to take photos for illustration.
Like most have already stated, I often use the iPhone. Especially for photographing text when rewriting laziness.
Aaron Nicholson. Canon T4i and GoPro Hero
I have a Canon T4i and a couple of lenses. Most often I use 35 mm, 18-135 mm and 10-22 mm STM.
I recently purchased a GoPro Hero Black for shooting and racing operations. And I never have enough time to edit the video.
Will Dzhesop. Nikon D40x and iPhone
I have a Nikon D40x with his mother the lens 18-55 mm, as well as the standard Nikon 35 mm. I also have an iPhone 4S. After I got my phone, I almost never use my Nikon D40x.
Emily Wilder. iPhone
After I read all these comments, I decided to search the Internet for my camera characteristics. And I found nothing. In any case, the last time I used it about a year ago.
My iPhone is always with me so often I photograph is a telephone. In any case, I do not want to carry a bulky camera everywhere.
Merrisa Dawson. Canon Rebel T3i and iPhone
I have a Canon Rebel T3i, I bought last summer and I really like it! When I am not using this camera, I use the iPhone.
Jeff Hardy. iPhone
I use my iPhone. The only thing I was missing - it is an opportunity to take pictures from a distance. And I would like SLR with a telephoto lens to make images of wildlife, which is just amazing.
David Heynemeyer Hansson. Fuji X100S, Sony RX-1, iPhone
I just recently bought the Fuji X100S. It really is a great camera and has the appropriate size to carry with you. 80% of all my favorite images in the last 5 years have been recorded with Canon 5Dm2 / 3 lens 85mm 1.2L. Nothing can compare with this combination, especially in portrait photography. But he is so huge that it is difficult to carry an unnecessarily (except for photo shoots).
Also, lately I've been using Sony RX-1. Full-frame in a tiny package. Impressive camera, but the color reproduction in the X100S more like it.
I also still do a huge amount of your iPhone photos. On a tiny phone screen, they look amazing, but as soon as you transfer them to the iPad retina display, they immediately lose much of its charm. And if you compare them with the pictures that are being made by these cameras (X100S and 5D), I immediately starting to regret not having done these pictures normal camera.
Jeremy Kemper. sony RX100
I often take trips to your Sony RX100 camera. I was looking for a camera that would fit in his pocket, it was not heavy and does not cling to the other subjects were able to work on a single charge for a week and still make good pictures. Therefore, I am currently using Sony RX100. Small, lightweight and with it easy to get great results.
Chris Joyce. iPhone and Fuji Finepix S8000fd
Ever since I got my iPhone 4S, which I do most of the photos, I have not bought a new camera. He is always with me in my pocket. He makes a quick and high-quality images.
If I get a holiday or some other event and I want to get better pictures, I use a Fuji Finepix S8000fd. Although, I'm thinking about how to upgrade the camera before the next holiday.
Michael Berger. iPhone
I am very happy with the iPhone 5, but during his trip to Europe last summer, I decided that I wanted to buy a more thorough camera. Most likely it will be Fuji or one of the other mirrorless options.
