The course shows the evolution of statehood and legal culture in human society from the era of Antiquity to the present day. Events, processes, and phenomena of world history are considered in it from a legal point of view, and therefore are interpreted and assessed differently. The main attention in the course of world legal history is paid not just to state power, but legal structures of the state system and legal institutions of leading countries in certain historical eras. The course is divided into 2 parts: the first outlines the legal history of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the second part is devoted to the legal history of Modern and Contemporary times.

Topic 1. Legal aspects of the English revolution 1640–1660.
Topic 2. The Glorious Revolution of 1688–1689 in England and the Bill of Rights.
Topic 3. Development of the political system of England and Great Britain in the 18th–19th centuries.
Topic 4. The emergence of the USA. The development of the US political system from the end of the 17th century. until the beginning of the twentieth century.
Topic 5. Legal aspects of the Great French Revolution.
Topic 6. Reforms of Napoleon Bonaparte and the formation of the foundations of a modern state in France.
Topic 7. The unification of Germany and the formation of the German Empire. The political system of Germany according to the Constitution of 1871.
Topic 8. Development of the German political system in the twentieth century. The mechanism of the fascist dictatorship in Germany. The defeat of fascism and the formation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Topic 9. Codification of civil law in France at the beginning of the 19th century.
Topic 10. Codification of civil law in Germany in the second half of the 19th century.
Topic 11. Development of English law in the 17th – early 20th centuries.
