2023 is the year when we were surprised, got used to it and learned to live with neural networks

How we began to live in the future.
2023 has been a remarkable year for artificial intelligence in general and generative neural networks in particular. Sophisticated machine learning technologies, once thought to be the preserve of geeks, have become a true phenomenon of popular culture—and a part of everyday life.
Most Popular solutions - this is, of course, a text chat bot ChatGPT and generating images Midjourney. Even people who were far from online trends sometimes asked me what these things were - word of mouth was working at full capacity. And even though for many neural networks have become just another trend that will sooner or later fade away (or has already faded away), they are based on truly useful and sometimes even frightening possibilities.
Until recently, the combination of the words “neural network” and “mass culture” in one phrase could cause confusion, but today the same Midjourney has become a tool for many artists and a distorting mirror that allows you to dream up topic
changes cult universes, revival cartoon And book heroes, as well as unusual crossovers. This is already part of pop culture.Even at the start, ChatGPT was called the new Google, and this despite the fact that the program was not connected to the Internet and could not work with links. Now the capabilities of the chatbot are being actively developed with the help of plugins, which allow you to “feed” entire web pages, PDF files and pictures to it. What's truly incredible is the natural language underlying the interaction—no complex queries, code, or special commands required. Enter a query in Russian and you will receive a meaningful, useful and competent answer on almost any topic. Just recently, this seemed like magic, but now it is available to everyone.
It is not surprising that the chatbot reached the 100 million active users mark in just two months from the release of the demo version, in February. By comparison, TikTok took 9 months to do this.
Such rapid growth has made many IT giants nervous, who did not pay enough attention to generative neural network technologies, including even Apple and Samsung. But what do we care about huge corporations when AI began to claim our jobs - authors, teachers, designers, illustrators and many others. To mass unemployment, of course, for now won't lead, but it may well lead to the abolition of many “routine” positions.
Now neural networks help to find solutions in complex tasks, simplify writing code, offer useful tips, rent exams at the student level and even win artist competitions. That is, in principle, they work wherever there is a knowledge base that people have been building for decades.
And if you still think that the rise of chatbots will not affect you in any way, then you will have to be disappointed: AI is already here, very close.
Are you worried that neural networks will take your job? Or do you use them yourself?
