Cultural practices are an important element in the system of reproduction of cultural meanings shared by society. They, in fact, are channels, languages ​​of culture, reflecting changes in the system of cultural values.

The lectures examine the most important groups of cultural practices in their development. When choosing, preference is given to those areas of experience through which a person expressed himself to the greatest extent, realizing his natural abilities and needs - for communication, relaxation, self-realization, registration of emotions, the desire to understand the world, harmonize the environment space.

In the modern world, in the context of changing cultural standards, advances in the field of value systems, the study of tradition as cultural phenomenon, as a valuable experience and way of organizing life, can contribute to the formation of value installations. The most important place is given to the creative function of culture: the essence of tradition is revealed from the perspective of updating the cultural practices of the past, retaining their value in today’s practical activities (including the preservation of material and “intangible” cultural heritage).

Thus, the course presents a nationally and socially oriented approach, which ultimately helps to identify the specifics of Russian identity, and the formulation of the problem allows us to demonstrate general communicative functions culture. This is relevant today, when the emphasis is shifting from the analysis of cultural artifacts to the analysis of communication connections and various cultural flows.

The goal of the program is an in-depth study of the historical and cultural process in Russia from the 9th to the beginning of the 20th centuries, the formation ideas about the peculiarities of the cultural process of Rus' - Russia and the place of its cultural heritage in the world civilization process. At the same time (unlike standard school courses), this program sets as a task not just the representation of achievements and cultural experience, but also the identification incentives in the behavior of people of the past, consideration of the characteristics of their consciousness, different from the modern one, associated with the transition from traditional society to "modern"

One of the most important objectives of the course is to examine, using specific historical material, the mechanisms of functioning and transformation of layers of cultural experience. Using the chosen perspective, we systematize the material over a chronologically extensive period, presenting the wealth of cultural forms in the Russian / Russian tradition in within the framework of various practices, drawing attention to the specifics of tradition, continuity and discontinuities associated with the evolution of culture and modernization processes of the past. The knowledge gained can be useful not only when passing entrance exams to a university, but also in terms of self-improvement and in practical activities.
