Mac Pro was revived, with made it so epic that it will envy even mystical phoenix. Many assumed that this line over productive Apple computers do not have a future, but... well, Apple pulled time for a reason, and they turned out a monster. We suggest you familiarize yourself with the technical specifications and performance data of the new Mac Pro.
The first thing that surprises in the new Pro - case design: cylindrical, aluminum, black. It's not the way we are accustomed to seeing the system blocks, but it looks very cool. For all its performance (of which below) Computer dimensions is very, very modest. 25 centimeters in height, with a small 16 centimeters in diameter (have you ever thought that the description of the dimensions of the housing will be used the word "diameter"?). For comparison, the volume of the previous Pro 8 times more.
We proceed to the filling. All major components are attached to the Mac Pro triangular heat dissipating member, which is dubbed as the "single thermal core". According to Apple itself is aluminum, allowed to achieve such compactness while maintaining the ability to cool efficiently.
Now for the processors. Apple decided to tie on the Intel Xeon. Mac Pro next generation will have a new generation of chips E5. The number of cores is limited to 12, but even such a configuration will provide the performance, allowing double the number of floating point operations compared to current models.
This also adds PCI Express support the third generation with a capacity of 40 Gigabit / s (1.12 Gbit / s read and 1.0 GB / s write).
By selecting a high-speed PCI-E flash storage (1250 Mbit / s versus 500 MB / s SATA Flash and 110 MB / s SATA HDD), Apple abandoned the possibility of simply replacing the hard drive. Perhaps the option would be to connect fast external drives through the interface Thunderbolt 2, but users of current models of such changes may not be very good news.
RAM: 4-ECC DDR3 channel with frequency 1866 MHz (bandwidth of 60 Gbit / s - twice the current Mac Pro).
Graphics: two AMD FirePro GPU to support up to 6 GB of dedicated memory. This results in a performance of up to 7 TFLOPS (in current Mac Pro - 2.7 teraflops).
This is complemented by excellent opportunities to connect extra equipment: six Thunderbolt 2 ports, 4 port USB 3.0, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and one HDMI 1.4. Most sweet here look exactly Theunderbolt 2 ports. The specs say the support capacity of around 20 Gbit / s. And yet it has backward compatibility with existing Thunderbolt.
When waiting for the monster? Likely to fall. Despite the fact that the specifications given above are valid only for the prototype model, launched into mass production Mac Pro with great probability will be identical in filling this prototype.
