Introduction to Psychology 16 contact hours + 6 hours of independent work
The course "Introduction to Psychology" makes an important contribution to the development of a professional worldview and the formation of the conceptual apparatus of a psychologist. It is devoted to 1) an analysis of the specifics of psychology and its place among other sciences, 2) a review of the main psychological approaches, including modern trends, and 3) a consideration of key mental processes.
Modern research in psychology 12 hours of contact work + 6 hours of independent work
The course Modern Research in Psychology allows you to get acquainted with the main trends in research in the most developed areas of psychology - cognitive, social and personal. During the lectures, fundamental knowledge in each area is associated with current areas of empirical and theoretical development of science: research into artificial intelligence, studying stereotypes and problems of sexism, searching for causes affecting well-being person, etc. Completing the course reveals the features of psychology and helps to immerse oneself in its scientific and practical activities. The main objective of the course is to familiarize yourself with the basic directions of development of research in psychological science, as well as with how topical issues in each of the listed areas have changed.
Personality psychology 40 hours of contact hours + 6 hours of independent work
This course is devoted to the main classical approaches to the study and psychotherapy of personality, as well as some personological models of personality in their application to practice. Our focus will be on the original texts of the classics and their authentic ideas; we will see how much they differ from their interpretations in popular culture and even in textbooks. In class we will explore the question of whether it is necessary to choose between conflicting theories and look at examples of synthesis "conflicting" ideas about personality in modern models, and also try to apply the acquired knowledge in the analytics of living cases.
Basics of psychodiagnostics 12 contact hours + 4 hours of independent work
Meetings on the basics of psychodiagnostics will introduce students to the problem of measuring psychological phenomena. Students will learn what and how the science of psychometrics studies, how knowledge, abilities and personality traits are measured, and how a good test differs from a bad one. During the workshop, which is the subject of a separate meeting, students will create a measuring instrument themselves and evaluate its quality.
