In the 20th century, Russia changed its statehood twice as a result of the revolutions of 1917 and the collapse of the USSR in 1991. However, each time, after a relatively short period of time, our country demonstrated the stable strength of historical continuity, expressed in value dominance of the ideas of statehood and patriotism, orientation towards the historical traditions of the peoples of Russia as opposed to Westernizing influence in worldview.
The main subject of the course is the study of the dynamics and transformations of the space of power and ideology at the pre-revolutionary, Soviet and post-Soviet stages existence of the Russian state in a general historical context, taking into account changing socio-economic, political, international and socio-cultural conditions. Particular attention is paid to the main turning points in the vector of Russia’s historical development: reforms of the 1860s–1870s gg., reforms of 1905–1906, revolutions of 1917, the post-war period and the crisis of statehood in the 1980–1990s.
Russian historical process at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century. developed extremely contradictory and dramatic, replete with numerous kinks, sometimes accompanied by a radical reformatting of the state, a complete change of elites and ideological guidelines. Nevertheless, the foundations of today's Russia were laid precisely in those previous historical periods. Beginning of the XXI century was marked by the correction of glaring defects in the system that emerged after the collapse of the USSR, as well as attempts to give it the necessary dynamism, subject to the preservation of internal political stability.
Purpose of the program is to trace the trajectory of Russia's historical development from the era of modernization in the post-reform period to the present.
