Miscellaneous / / December 07, 2023
About the course:
During the course, children will become familiar with the program interface, learn the basics of mathematics, and create their first logical commands (scripts), and will also learn to draw their own characters and animate them using code. During the classes, children will create several cartoons and games, get acquainted with the rules of game logic and the possibility of voice acting. The guys will go through all stages of game development: from the idea to the final testing of the finished product, get acquainted with the professions of a game developer and game designer and take the first steps towards mastering the IT field.
At the beginning of the classes, the children will learn the basic commands for animation, get acquainted with algorithms, learn how to create dialogues, and come up with their own comic strip. The next step will be to study the main components of programming: conditions, loops, variables, random numbers, mathematical values and coordinate systems.
The culmination of the course will be a hand-made game, which each student will present at a presentation in front of the group and the teacher.
Course objectives:
1. Introduce the basics of graphic design;
2. Introduce the rules and technologies of creating animation;
3. Introduce the basics of game design;
4. Introduce the basics of UX design;
5. Teach children to create game projects, looking at them through the eyes of not only the developer, but also the player;
6. Go through the stages of creating a game concept for demonstration (planning, working on the visual part, adding demo mechanics, preparing a presentation speech).
Graduates of the course will be able to:
- Understand the interaction of shapes and colors;
- Understand the basic principles of working with vector graphics;
- Confidently work with graphics;
- Implement the principles of frame-by-frame animation in Scratch;
- Work with game balance;
- Create a game setting;
- Create a user interface.
Learning outcome:
1. Several full-fledged games with complex logic that the child will create during training;
2. Own game project - a personalized game with advanced algorithms;
3. Understanding why mathematics and computer science are needed in life and where they can be applied;
4. Ability to work with game components and think through the plot from start to finish.
