Purpose of the program - training students in writing scientific articles for publication in international journals English, as well as preparing oral communications and delivering a report at a conference at English language. Students get acquainted with modern approaches to scientific and educational activities in geography.

Admission requirements: specialists with higher or secondary vocational education in the areas of “Geography”, “Hydrometeorology”, “Ecology and environmental management”, “Cartography and geoinformatics”, with basic knowledge of a foreign language. The program is implemented primarily for students and employees of Moscow State University

As part of the additional education program of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University, foreign languages ​​are taught.

The program “Foreign languages ​​for tourism and business” is open to students and listeners in the format of evening courses in the following disciplines:

• English
• German
• French
• Spanish
• Italian
• Chinese languages

Enrollment in language groups is open throughout the academic year.

The program is compiled taking into account all possible initial levels of listeners and is divided into 6 levels: Beginner (English for beginners), Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced. The theme of the program allows students to learn the basic fundamentals of the language, while adding thematic vocabulary in given areas depending on the level of the group.

Distribution into groups occurs through entrance testing, which determines the student’s level of knowledge. Next, distribution into groups takes place according to the schedule.

Language groups study 2 times a week for 2 academic hours; with the specified frequency of classes, a standard course of 50 academic hours is completed in 3 months. After this, students have the opportunity to move to the next level and listen to another 50 hours of the course. Thus, over the course of several years, students have the opportunity to improve their level to the desired level. Due to the fact that enrollment in groups is carried out all year round, and courses operate only with a break for the summer and New Year holidays, training is most effective. Within the program there are specialized courses such as Business and Conversational English.

The courses are taught by teachers from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and the most current teaching methods and materials are used.
