“Vertebrate Zoology” - course 2800 rub. from MSU, training 15 weeks. (4 months), Date: December 2, 2023.
Miscellaneous / / December 05, 2023
Zoology is a fundamental science that generalizes molecular genetic, physiological, morphological and behavioral directions of animal research within the framework of ecological and evolutionary approaches. From this point of view, the course of vertebrate zoology can be considered as basic or fundamental for understanding the structure and life activity of representatives of vertebrate animals, which include Human. The course introduces students to the systematic diversity and morphological structure of representatives of the phylum Chordata, of which the subphylum Vertebrata is a part. Such systematic groups are discussed as the subphylum Cranial, the subphylum Tunicates, as well as the classes of the subphylum Vertebrates: Cyclostomes, Cartilaginous and Bony fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds and Mammals. The presentation of the material is given in a comparative evolutionary manner, demonstrating the adaptive significance of each trait for a particular group of animals. The main evolutionary trends in the development of the following organ systems are discussed: musculoskeletal, digestive, excretory, circulatory, respiratory, reproductive and nervous systems.
